I know this is a late after action report but FR wasn't working well for me yesterday so I held off posting..............anyway here we go...

I made it down to Metro park about 4:15, Chieftain already had a few parking spaces held w/ lawn chairs under the expressway.

Chieftain and I took a few minutes to finish up filling in some letters on my signs, I wasn't able to watch the debate and stay in the lines and read FR all at once the night before.

Shortly after that the Protest Warrior Kevin & his dad got there w/ their GREAT signs. (Should be noted that Kevin served with the 82nd Airborne in Iraq and has just recently returned.) He was also representing PW when Kerry came to jax the other week.

Swiftee Pete & wife came prepared w/ their large blue wall of Kerry's shame (seen in post #4). They also had many anti Kerry stickers to sell, so I was able to spruce up my truck so everyone that I drive by knows "KERRY LIED WHILE GOOD MEN DIED."

We repositioned are stakeout after we saw people were walking in further down from where we were.

The second spot we were in put us in a great position. We were right where people going in had to stop and pay $5 to park close to the event.

It was funny to watch people turn around after they realized they could park for FREE in another lot 50yds away.

Also since they had to stop there I think they were almost forced to read our signs.

Some people were like a deer in headlights.....

Got the famous one fingered salute from about a dozen people.

I can't remember how many times I heard "BUSH LIED".......Then I asked where/when and they never seem to have a real comeback.

Some cars, err should I say GAS GURGLING SUV'S and there were many, had some cute stickers on them. Ya know "Like father like son...one term each", the "W" w/ a red circle and slash.

When Moore called this a SLACKER tour, he was right.....and punk is not dead, not by what I saw walking in to see Moore spew his lies.

One girl had a shirt that just said "DORK" on it........

Another was kid w/ a mo-hawk and a "KILLER BUSH" shirt on...

One guy walked by and spit on some Reelect Bush yard signs that were there.

Makes me wonder what type of brainwashing it takes to invoke a physical reaction like that...

I got to see CORRINE BROWN drive right in front of me, in her CONVERTIBLE MERCEDES....

I didn't realize it was her until after she drove by, I should have asked her why SHE is a cosponsor to the House Draft bill...

There was one kid that came and talked to Swiftee Pete. I gotta say it looked to me like he, the kid, was respectful and they had an actual back and forth dialog. From what I heard this kid got a HUGE History lesson from Swiftee Pete.

And then there was ROGER, seen here at firstcoastnews.com, that argued w/ Swiftee Pete for about 30mins. I think he only stuck around so he could be quoted on the news....

People 18-35 years old make up a large number of the people Moore is trying to reach. Some believe his message that says, "If your 18 to 26 years old you can guarantee that there's going to be a draft if Bush gets a second term," is misleading.

"That is absolutely untrue, that is such a lie," said protester Rhonda Murray.

Murray, a Republican, isn't buying Moore's theory about a potential draft.

"That is just an outright lie, another desperate scare tactic trying to scare young people," she said.

Standing just feet away from Murray, Roger Thomas a Democrat, a Vietnam Veteran, and the father of a son serving in Iraq said Moore's message is on point.

"It's not a scare tactic it's an unfortunate Bush invented fact of life." "People in the military today are being involuntary extended on active duty by what's being called a stop loss," said Thomas.

I hate this picture, it looks like I'm holding a sign FOR the draft.

Roger Thomas

All and all I had it was another GREAT FReep and I had a GREAT time.....can't wait for the next one!!!

I WILL BE POSTING MY PICS ON MON. (I left my camera cord at work.)

This guy is a total hypocrite. I was sickened by his hypocrisy. When I confronted him with the fact that Kerry sold HIM and ALL of us out in 1971, he countered that he thought Vietnam war was 'wrong'. Huh???

What did he learn when he was there flying missions that I missed on the ground? I mean the Chinese rockets the VC used to attack us with on a daily basis, killed Marines and I sure thought the VC were serious about winning it, regardless if I thought it was 'wrong' or not! He did say he was was a naval aviator, so maybe he never even set foot in country, just took off and landed from a carrier.

I told him he was as much a traitor as Kerry and told him he should embrace his grandkids and tell them he didn't care about their future safety, he was going to vote for a traitor anyhow. That's when he revealed his son is a career soldier and is currently serving in Iraq.

I asked if his son supported Kerry and he hemmed and hawed and finally admitted "we have out differences there". What??? How could this be?? How could his son, a real hero serving in Iraq, support the President and he support a traitor?? He said his son met President Bush at the Pentagon as they were recovering body parts after the terrorist attack, so he has 'a connection' with George Bush! I guess that connection must be pretty strong for him to be in Iraq, NOW 3 years after their meeting, and he is in harm's way and fighting the terrorists, AND HE STILL SUPPORTS BUSH!!

What a crock of crap!! This guy is just an assh*le. I confirmed that very fact last night at the old car cruise-in. A guy approached me and told me he saw me on the news Saturday morning and he wanted to thank me for being there and confronting the "Moorons". We chatted about what happened and I told him of the dufus I just discussed above. He said "Yeah, I know that idiot. His name is Roger Thomas. He was president of our flying club before and he is something else. He takes the opposite view of any issue just to argue. He is an idiot. Nobody wants anything to do with him."

It was so nice to finally meet you!

I had a hard time logging into Free Republic yesterday morning and assumed the site had been attacked (again.)

My Freep Adventure had two parts, Cheiftain said he would take up his spot at 2:30 so I stopped to visit on my way home from work--and yes, I take the dog to work with me on paydays. There were Marines setting up for an event for Saturday, so we had some good company, before I had to drop off the dog and leave for bible study, which ended in time for me to run home, change clothes, apply bug spray, pick up the dog, put on my sunglasses and go back for more Freeping!

I spotted where the freep had moved to, and as I turned around to go to the FREE parking lot, my "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" sticker was cheered. As I walked over from parking, "Bob" was there.

He had heard about Michael Moore through Jacksonville Activist and came out for a one man (USN) veteran flag waving event. (His hat says "Kitty Hawk", mine says USS Ronald Reagan")He was out on the main drag, while the freepers were in the parking area. He stayed where he was, getting lots of honks of support, while I moved on join my fellow freepers.

What a great bunch of people! As promised, Cheiftain had hot dogs and Willie became his loyal slave by the end of the night. The Moore-ons were forced to read the great signs "up close and personal" at the parking area. The largest (and most powerful) listed all of the terrorists acts against America and Americans for the last 20 years and ended with Moore's quote that "There is no terrorist threat."

Once the event was underway, a few Young Republicans ventured into the belly of the beast- they were allowed into the venue as long as they did not carry signs with sticks or have signs mentioning the words "Lie" or "Liar." This meant leaving behind the awesome Protest Warrior signs which read "Say no to war!- unless a democrat is in office."

since I didn't have the stomach to actually listen to anything Moore had to say, I joined a couple of other folks with Bob and had a few young people stop by and ask how they could earn their public service hours (required for scholarships) by volunteering for the Bush campaign. I sent them to the Lady in Red. Bob had brought his boom box with patriotic CD's and Cheiftain stood in the sunset and sand "Have you Forgotten?"

Bob let me hold his flag and when he returned he had purchased some anti-Kerry stickers which I had not noticed previously, so I went back and purchased the "waffle" one for myself... from Pete Webster, and I will be happy to give you his email address, if you care to freepmail me with the request.

As Willie and I left the event, I realised that the people at the Moore event sounded eerily like the old footage I had heard from Hitler rallies, loud, angry, hate-filled voices, manipulated by a truly evil man. I was glad I had done my little bit. I walked away, a strange woman wearing sunglasses at night with a happily bloated dog, and this thought running through my head. Thanks, Free Republic for encouraging me to do my little bit!

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Author: Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton, first Baron Lytton Source: Richelieu (act III, sc. 1, l. 49)
