QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Thank you very much, tonight, Jim. Thank you, Senator.
If America shows uncertainty or weakness in this decade, the world will drift toward tragedy. That's not going to happen so long as I'm your President. The next four years, we will continue to strengthen our homeland defenses. We will strengthen our intelligence-gathering services. We will reform our military. The military will be all-volunteer army. We will continue to stay on the offense. We will fight the terrorists around the world so we do not have to face them here at home.
We'll continue to build our alliances. I'll never turn over America's national security needs to leaders of other countries as we continue to build those alliances. And we'll continue to spread freedom. I believe in the transformational power of liberty, I believe that a free Iraq is in this nation's interest. I believe a free Afghanistan is in this nation's interest. I believe both a free Afghanistan and a free Iraq will serve as a powerful example for millions who plead in silence for liberty in the broader Middle East.
We've done a lot of hard work together over the last three-and-a-half years. We've been challenged, and we've risen to those challenges. We've climbed the mighty mountain. I see the valley below and it's a valley of peace. By being steadfast and resolute and strong, by keeping our word, by supporting our troops, we can achieve the peace we all want.
I appreciate your listening tonight. I ask for your vote. And may God continue to bless our great land.

God bless this man! I am more and more thankful for him and his leadership as we get closer to the election. To be honest, this scares the heck out of me. He has to beat the commies on all side in the same way Reagan did. The difference is, these are in our own country.
Thanks for the dose, and the chance to rant a bit.

Not sure where to post this. And I don't want to create a needless vanity, but Jeb Bush will be our President in 2008.
The job he's done in FL (before the hurricanes) was unprecedented. Low tax, high volume, let's go get em' economy.
Since the hurricanes, he has been EVERYWHERE! He knows the needs of the victims, somehow shows up on their doorsteps, and delivers the goods (in English and Spanish).
He's been the best Governor the world has ever seen in the past year. It's a shame that we have term limits. That said, our Floridian's loss will be the country's gain.
Jeb will make a fantastic President, and he's proven it over and over again.
I love W, but Jeb will be even better.

This is the Dubya I like to see. I think, last night, either he just didn't like being in the same room with K or maybe Lehrer got under his skin. Dubya did get stronger as the evening went on and, give 'em one more hour, K would have been saying, "Me, too, Mr. President. Gosh, multilateral talks are the way to go. Blablabla."
K is nothing but an act. W is the real deal.

I sent a campaign contribution to the President in August, directly to the White House. After about 30 days, it was returned to me with a message that the White House could not accept mail. A well-connected individual shared with me an address in suburban VA which would accept my check directly. I sent another. Today, returning from work, was a letter addressed for me, on the President's letterhead:
Sept 24
Dear Mr. _________
Thank you for your generous gift to the Bush-Cheney '04 effort. It means a lot to Laura and me to have your support as a member of our 2004 reelection team.
.....
Thanks again for your financial support. I am honored to serve as your President.
Sincerely,
George W. Bush (signed)
(What a GIFT to receive a letter such as this the day after the first debate!)

Darn forgot to add my comment. I heard a portion of his stump speech (covered by all cable stations) and he was definitely on his game today in front of an appreciative crowd. Unfortunately he didn't have the large audience he had last night but hopefully snippets will be played on the nightly news.

Whoopie. love the pix. thanks Mike.. Tomorrow you/someone will hopefully be posting pix from OUR RALLY HERE IN OHIO.
POTUS will be in Cuyahoga Falls , OH. understand 25K tickets have been passed out.. incredible.. I know the little space they are to be in. should be interesting. I will park my car & leave Oliver at friends home , less than mile away & walk or bike over.
Questions for anyone..
1) does Dubya wear make up for these presentations? debates? Part of me thinks he would resist..
2) Last night I watched on C-Span the debate. sKerry looked pale.. I was all set to laugh over Mr. Orange. The split screen made Dubya obviously darker. Later pix showed him dark. Did he request/get a special color lighting to diffuse his coloring "mistake" ?
3) wonder if he has gone to Michael Jackson's skin colorist?
