Steam cloud just spotted -- Noon PDT from Mount St. Helens
More when I get some news over news feeds
welcome--took me awhile to find a host for the pic...volcano seems to be quieted down right now.
The usual USGS automatic rapid-update maps for quakes such as the one you posted aren't really functional for Mt. St. Helens at the moment; the quakes have been essentially continuous for several days, and the automated location and plotting system couldn't keep up so it basically was disabled.
The raw trace webicorders are updating, however:

West would mean it is going out over the ocean.
This last week they said the winds aloft (higher up) were straight south and that Portland would get ash in 45 minutes and Salem within an hour.
I'm reassured how about you? LOL
Did you hear the silly reporter on CNN (though I believe she is a local reporter) ask the scientist "Why did this catch you guys by surprise? Why even just this morning you were saying that there was a 70% chance of an event, yet it has indeed happened."
Read this a.m. about scientists may have found the source of the Earth's hum. Scientists used to think it was caused by earthquakes but now they think it's caused by ocean waves on the bottom. Now, after last night watching Ketchupman, the consummate politician, weasel his way out of the questions, we have the earth ahummin' and athumpin and abelchin' gas.
Hot Mag-muh.
.
Flipping around I found the immense stupidity of the questions and comments on the news channels mind-boggling.
That is very cool!
They just showed cooling magma and water running down from the melted glacier.
GLOBAL WARMING ALERT! VOLCANO MELTING GLACIER! WE'RE ALL DOOMED! (sarcasm for the humor impaired)
The bottom pic has to be a file photo.
FoxNews reported a small lava flow.
Will be interesting to see who was right!
VERY cool photos! Thank you!
I'm about 99% sure the lower pic you posted was an old file pic from the 1980s.
Looks like whatever it was has melted some of the glacier. Fox showing water now running down around each side of the cone.
The lower image looked to extreme. I checked the tag on it, and it is stock footage. Sorry! I will ask to have it removed.
I see the fine hand of God here....knocking the "Kerry gathering steam" analysis off the news shows....with a show of what REAL steam can be.
