In your opinion, how did the debates go? Did Kerry get the upperhand (yeah right) or did Bush come out strong?

Also, was it just me, or did Kerry seem a little too prepared for those questions? Kerry usually trips over himself whenever he has to answer something, but he glided through this.

Kerry used a lot of words to say nothing. Bush used few words but siad a lot.

yeah President George W. Bush's last name is bush. Did i say something wrong? I would have felt silly typing "george" and typing bush was easier than typing out "president bush"

Of course Kerry was better prepared for the debate than President Bush. The President can't afford to take real time off to prepare. Kerry hasn't given a SHIT about his responsibilities as an elected official for so long he doesn't know what they are. He missed so many votes I can't believe he really knows what he's talking about. Especially when the President makes statements such as "I don't know where he's going to get the money" and "he's wrong". Those are statements made from someone trying to do the best job with what he is given. Being President does not give you Carte Blanche to do what the hell you want. Mr. President, if the majority of the Electoral College decides that, because of those that no sense of the strength of conviction, that you have not earned the privilege of being our leader for another four years, come back to Texas and we'll start talking secession. We can ya know.

Seriously, there were times I wished that the president would have just strolled across the stage and punched him in his botoxed, orange nose. It would have livened things up considerably and there would have been no question as to the winner. And just imagine the ratings it would bring for the next one. LOL!

Per Drudge, Joe Lockhart thought it was a draw, so it definitely wasn't a win for Kerry.

I have a feeling that Bush did not practice much for this debate. He was just let loose on his "strong issue." I bet 90% of his practice has been for the 2nd debate.

I think Bush REALLY had Kerry back on his heels the first hour. I could tell Kerry was nervous from the constant hammering from Bush. The last half hour Bush seemed to run out of steam, but still held his own.

My take:

Issues: Bush 70% Kerry 30%

Style: Bush 40% Kerry 60%

CNN just said Gallop has Kerry winning debate big BUT PEOPLE STILL FELT BUSH WAS A STRONGER LEADER.That's all we need tonight.Tomorrow the Kerry blunders will be driven home.

You people make me ashamed, lying to yourselves, i watched the debate, george could have done better, but some of you are so stuck in this partisan garbage and not whats good for the country that you could catch Bush in bed with a 13 year old child and say its ok its just part of his no child left behind plan. The eagle can't fly on just one right wing folks, give credit where credit is due, after all there are 2 more debates, lying, creating conspiracy theories, and twisting the truth is the lowest a person can sink to, the truth will stand when all else falls, as you saw tonight, there is no need to spin it to something it's not, you need to figure this out, this spinning the truth is what has this country in the shape it's in now on part of both parties. utterly rediculious...

Honestly, I'd consider it close, but perhaps an edge to Bush. Kerry definately has the smoothness down, but he's full of lies. I really wish Bush had called him on a few more of them, but he didn't. He scored on a few areas, while Kerry scored on a few. But the big point in Bush's favor is that he articulated what he would do, while Kerry kept yammering on about how he has a plan and it is better. Nobody to date knows what that plan is, though.

But a tie is really all Bush needed, because he got his true message out. Think of it this way - the undecideds have read so much negative press about Bush that they were likely convinced that he didn't have a clue. He showed that not only did he have a clue, but he has a strong grasp on the situation. He didn't need the TKO - he only needed to last 15 rounds and score some points.

The other bright spot I see is that Kerry produced some new ammo for the campaign. He's articulated clearly (about the only thing he's clear about) that he'd like the US to take on a more subordinate role to the UN and other enemies of the US. As Bush said 1+ years ago, we don't need permission from the UN to go to war.

Bush looked a little weak and defensive, but the results of the debate will be positive.
