In Your Opinion...

In your opinion, how did the debates go? Did Kerry get the upperhand (yeah right) or did Bush come out strong?

Also, was it just me, or did Kerry seem a little too prepared for those questions? Kerry usually trips over himself whenever he has to answer something, but he glided through this.

Yes and all Kerry 's replies were about bashing Bush. Thats the Kerry platform. If the debate had been a real debate Kerry would have been asked to explain how he would accomplish what he says he will do. Of course that hard because in the next breat Kerry is doing just the opposite. Most of what says he will do is already being done. I thought Bush beat him bad on substance.

I agree Bush lost the debate.. very sad... polls will close now and the mdeia will rally to Kerry and help him close even further... here we go!!!

I too feel that the President didn't win hands down. However I saw Kerry not look and connect with the public and Kerry with his " I have a plan " nonsense never went anywhere The president did stay on point and kept the focus on the few important issues.

If you want a guy who is an unknown you vote Kerry. If you want a proven man, you vote Bush I vote for the president and I will be out there working for the campaign to re-elect the president

Kerry's words were nothing more than a popcorn fart.

Bush stumbled and bumbled all night

You obviously are from the "old school". President Bush spoke from his heart tonight.

Let me put this in very simple terms for you.

I'm just a country girl from Ohio. Put me up against someone in a "debate" setting, on describing how to make the best gravy, I'd probably lose.

Put me in a kitchen with them, one on one, and I'd kick their ass with the best gravy you've ever tasted.

Think about it.

Anyone listening to the talking heads on the cable stations? I just can't bring myself to listen to them. What are they saying?

didn't hurt himself

I fully expect to see a big swing in the polls away from Bush and to Kerry.

The first debate is the most important one...the most watched...and Bush did a BAD job.

I won't be watching anymore of them either. Waaaaaay too painful.

I love our President, but he may have lost the election with his pathetic performance tonight.

You know, I saw through all of the gamesmanship on Kerry: listing battleground states, mentioning hot-button terms (Haliburton), repeating that he had only one position on Iraq, mentioning Vietnam without using the V word. It's very hard to view this from the point of view of an undecided or leaning voter. I do not think Kerry's numbers will shift.

Kerry used a lot of words to say nothing. Bush used few words but siad a lot.

Bingo. the pundits of course missed that. But did the American people?

"Next time let's have a moderator that doesn't spoon feed Frankenstein."

I hear they're trying to get Dan Rather. < /sarcasm >

I also would like to see a less artificial stage arrangement.

Bush couldn't win; all the questions were ABOUT Bush.

I agree completely. Almost all of the questions put Bush on the defensive from the get go.

But I also think that complaining about the Referee never won any Football games.

Is CBS' Schieffer still moderating a future debate?

Let's complain about the ref (loudly) before the game!

Given Kerry's record in the Senate, I don't believe Kerry believed what he was saying. He tried to come across as more hawkish that Bush, and certainly more hawkish than his record would support. I can't imagine that Kerry's dovish supporters will be happy with what they heard from him.

Every thing Kerry did was nothing more than Monday morning quarterbacking.

Bush could have done a better job, but I don't think he dropped the ball--despite being gang tackled by Kerry and Lehr for a solid 90 minutes. Due to the questions, Bush was nearly constantly on the defensive, but he held his position. Kerry did better than I would have liked him to do.

Kerry looked like crap--had that Albore fake rosy cheek thing going. Bush looked great.

Kerry stimulated my gag reflex several times--he's pompous, condescending, and non-substantive. I can't see how the electorate is going to want to watch him nightly for four years. I think many in the middle will find him unlikeable, if not downright repulsive.

Are you insinuating that Kerry was given the questions ahead of time......why that would be cheating. Sounds probable to me.

I will have all of Russia's nuclear materials secure in four years

Think he will be getting a call from Putin tomorrow? I'm sure he'd like to know how as well. I kept expecting Kerry to pull is sKerry Godmother wand out of his lapel.

Bush did what Bush does...
He made his points and disagreed with Kerry,
and rebuffed some of Kerrys assertions,
but he's a decent man and isn't about to
twist the knife after he sticks it in.

Kerry's answers sounded canned when compared with
Bush searching for correct words and thoughts.

Bingo. the pundits of course missed that. But did the American people?

I agree 100%. The liberal media always shows disdain for their customers. Bush made sense. Kerry didn't.

Kerry would give Iran frigging NUCLEAR FUEL, are you kidding?

Kerry would ask for a GLOBAL PERMISSION SLIP before acting to protect ourselves.

John Kerry is a liar and a flip-flopper.. What's his position on Iraq again?

I remember when Fazio took on Hillary. I thought Fazio destroyed Hillary, but instead it spooked the horses and he went downhill from there.

So ya never know.

I thought Bush didn't do well. I also know I'll vote for him.

Kerry quoted a bunch of people, droped lots of names! Who cares what Pres JFK did in the 50's ; Vietnam is over! New Century new time, Kerry's 1950's America does not exist! I',m looking forward and not to the past, President Bush understands that things are not so simple as they were in 1950 Kerry's stuck in time!
