Theyre at it again. Liberals have created a web site, VotePair.org , to encourage Nader voters to swap their votes with Kerry voters. This is definitely unethical and probably illegal.
So what can you do about this latest Democrat dirty trick? You could simply go to VotePair.org and sign up as a Nader voter. You dont even have to use your real name, state and e-mail. You could, for instance, pretend to be a Nader voter in a swing state (FL, OH, WI, MO, MN, OR, NM, IA, PA, MI.) If you do sign up as a Nader voter, youll get an e-mail from your vote-trading partner in a couple of weeks. Play along and enjoy!
If a few thousand people do this, that would wreck VotePair . Vote traders wouldnt know if they were trading with a real Nader voter, or just throwing their vote away.
Unbelievable.
HHmmnnn...I like the way you think...
It's not, but I don't believe what is suggested is preventing anything.
I don't think that jumping in to the same behavior we see from the Dims is a good idea, in general, and is sleazy, at best. I try to live my life in a moral way - I understand about the voter fraud issue and I am VERY concerned about it - I agree with a couple of the posters here, though, this is more a fraud against the Nader voters who will be tricked into voting for Kerry while the Kerry voter will ALSO vote for Kerry - bad, yes, sleazy, yes - count me out. I am glad to stand outside the polls with a video camera for a day, to show my ID when I go vote, if required, and to make sure I am registered ahead of time and that I vote early in the day, if not ahead (Texas allows early voting up to 17 days before the election at convenient locations). What I WILL NOT do is to get into the trenches with them - I will denouce their tactics, I will support investigations, I will call for their removal from the rolls - I WILL NOT sling poo in the same manner as the Dims. No, I'm not naive, I'm just trying to live my life in a moral way. I think Nader voters are throwing away their vote - including some members of my family who are doing so - but better Nader than Kerry. Kerry's loss - in no case are Kerry voters going to vote for Nader, no matter for what they sign up. I'm just not going to sink to their level in an attempt to usurp votes that would otherwise be going to... no - still going to be going to... Kerry. Whether I sign up or not as a Nader voter will NOT change what the Kerry voter does, IMHO - so why sell out my morals for a non-cause? Why sell out my morals, ever? Sorry - not interested.
I'm signed up! =)
Nother Nader voter from FL here.
I'm sorry, of course, you find someone disagreeing with you in a quiet, reasonable tone to be "condescending." In all candor, however; that reveals a good deal more about you than it does me.
Winning at "any cost" is not a value I share.
Your unflagging (and inexplicable) devotion to the notion that stopping fraud is analogous to committing fraud is already well established, at this point; and has been effectively gainsaid, repeatedly. No need to keep chewing the same cud over and over again, really.
But hey, I'm just a pretty simple Texan who doesn't use words like "obdurant." I am soooooo grateful to have an intellectual such as yourself put me in my place because I happen to disagree. You are soooo superior.
Similarly, I'm sorry my having used a fairly simple word such as "obdurant" -- not quite the exotic bird you seem to feel it is, really -- left you feeling (apparently) either threateened or inadequate. Possibly you could lobby Jim to post a list of all the words you personally find too high-falutin' (or what-have-you), and convince him to flatly forbid us from using any/all of them, from this day forward. And good luck with that, certainly.
I don't even see the clever value here.
Please believe me when I hasten to assure you that I have absolutely, positively NO doubt of that.
More to the point: who asked you to...? :)
The case has been explained (and re-re-re-RE-explained, in one particularly silly, mulish instance) why preventing a crime -- and that's what voter fraud IS, plainly -- is in no way even remotely comparable to committing a crime. This is, and needn't be, all that tough a conceptual fly to swat; it's precisely the same difference between (say) a shoplifter, and the store employer who catches him shoplifting.
You -- or any other FReeper (obviously) -- may certainly opt not to help out, for whatever reasons seem most pressing and right to you, personally... and neither your, nor any other FReeper, need apolgize (or even offer up a reason why) for said refusal.
However: terming those of us who ARE readily capable of recongnizing the difference between Crime and Crime Prevention "immoral," "sell-outs" or what-have-you is, demonstrably, addled and egregious. And we have every right, in turn, to point that out. :)
It's not
That's all the "point" I was attempting to illustrate... so: we have no quarrel then, plainly. :)
but I don't believe what is suggested is preventing anything.
Disagreed (of course), for all the reasons stated previously on this thread, ad infinitum... but: your personal call, certainly.

bump
You get blame for making me laugh out loud.
well done........wish you could pull it off......LOL
I am against this idea. I think we do not need to lie to win this election. Lying is the province of the dark side, and if we sink to their level, they will beat us with experience. Let's stay on the high road, and ignore this latest stupidity. After all, they can't really trust the other Dem voter to truly vote for Kerry or Nader as they promiose, so the whole thing will be a waste of their time. Don't waste ours...
