Looks like the letter had an impact. Although MSNBC did not respond to Brock, a spokeswoman for the network told HOH late Wednesday that the network has decided not to go with Frank for the debate. In fact, MSNBC wont conduct polling at all now, she said.
Brock was delighted to hear the news. It is encouraging that MSNBC responded to criticism in a constructive way. Clearly they realized that employing a partisan pollster does not reflect well on them as a responsible media outlet.

From: Jeremy Gaines (NBC Universal, MSNBC) Sent: Wednesday, September 29, 2004 6:22 PM To: David Brock Subject: Frank Luntz
David---
I'm writing in response to your letter to Rick Kaplan. We will not be using any focus groups during our debate coverage. We think the audience is fully capable of coming to their own opinions without "scientific" help. A press release indicating that Frank Luntz would be on our air went out in error.

I understand ;)
I thought Leventhal was pretty good in Iraq, and he definitely won the wet T-shirt blowing the hurricane winds contest recently.
Here's the relevant bit:
Another reason to boycott MSNBC
What is the difference . ?
I liked Dr. Bob Arnott's reporting from Iraq.
They sure could use another good conservative on Fox News.

I for one am glad. I hate these stupid focus groups.
Tony Snow did a good job. We don't have a single conservative host on Sunday interview shows now.
Chris Wallace is trying to be somewhat fair to conservatives. That does not mean he is doing a good job of questioning liberals.
I agree. Rick Leventhal always does a great job reporting.
I do see Jack Burkman on MSNBC alot.
I wonder if MSNBC was going to get rid of this Luntz anyway. hmmm
Ah well. No one is going to watch their post-coverage of the debates anyway.
I have a feeling Bush will get 15% to 20% of the democrat vote when all's said and done.
I hate that little fairy chit.
I have a list now.
Howard Wolfson is on the top of it, but Brock and Tad Devine as 2nd and 3rd.
Have a laugh on him . Or you .
Do you know anything about his background? I never heard of him until he took over for Tony. I followed Tony onto the AM radio--but the station just this week flipped over to Air America. No more Savage, Snow, etc.
Make sure to leave room on that list for that Kerry hack, Chad Clanton.
I think the question is, why hire anybody who spins the news? Is it that hard to have a non partisan objective and state the facts however they fall?
Yes, it definitly is. This is a disease which has spread across the globe to ill effect. Americans are held in contempt from those it helped free from Hitler.
It really is time to present the other side, in all fairness. Why is Fox so successful? Because they have embarked on this. Whatever faults they may have, they stand alone in cable news, and at the top. Go figure.
The MSM needs an overhaul. So does the Democratic Party.
The world needs to hear the truth, because lies do have a negative effect when they go uncountered. . Of that, there can be no doubt.
Surely the world will not be impervious to the truth. It merely needs to be presented.
I was talking about FOX.
This made me laugh out loud. Thank you :-)
