"That sounds like Kerry..., Winning the hearts and minds of people who don't vote. Now that's strategery!"

Maybe if the Dems get their names and addresses, they WILL vote - unbeknownst to them!

To me that was the most memorable moment of all the debates between Bush and Gore. I remember him nodding a tad while he gave him the LOOK. It was priceless. One of the other moments I remember from those debates is Bush walking out to the podium (1st debate?) and winking to the audience.

"...and if it wasn't for the DUI thing at the last minute, the election would not have been close."

And let's not forget to thank CBS/Rather this year. If any last second surprise "revelations" concerning Mr. Bush come out, there will be such a simultaneous outrage from some and utter disbelief by others, that the election will be a landslide. (Thanks Danny Boy and Momma Mapes).

Bob Schieffer furiously picking his fingers on SeeBS's "Face the Nation." Does he always do this? I'd be surprised if his fingers aren't bleeding by the time the show is over. It's hard to watch. I wonder what's going on. He's been doing TV for decades; why the anxiety now? Worried he might lose the position as moderator, at a Presidential debate?

Russert is parrotting Kerry's very words.

This is why I don't bother watching Russert anymore. Sunday mornings used to be a ritual of paper, coffee, and all the Sunday morning shows. First the paper dropped off, now the Sunday morning shows have dropped off, but I still have my coffee :o)

I saw the correction to "Christopher" and thought it was rather petty.

I have a thing against people who are fanatic that their names be used correctly and have a hissy fit (understated in his case)if you shorten it or use a nickname.

That being said, I thought the "Chrissy" thing was WAY out of line.

Doris Kearns Goodwin says she doesn't see how Kerry can be an anti war candidate while our soldiers are over there. Rangle said, "we don't wind-surf in Harlem", Russert quoted Rangle as a way to point out Kerry's windsurfing ad really hurt him.

Novak poo-poos the women's vote as being up for grabs. He says, there are very few undecideds in very few states and talking about "out-sourcing" isn't going to move them.

David Broder says it was a mistake for Kerry to criticize Al-lowi (sp) while he was in the country. Broder says "increased fighting and increased violence" is what will move voters more than rhetoric on either side. (In his column today, Broder repeats the lie that UNFIT FOR COMMAND is a book of scurrilous lies, just so you know where he's coming from..

Russert asks about 527s specifically Harold Ickes' "Media Fund". and republican's strong group, I missed the name of the republican's 527. , but Russert showed ads from both sides.

William Safire says, finally the republicans are getting in on the 527 ads. Safire says it's right for 527s to be dramatic and emotional. Russert questions when it's Over the top in these ads. None so far have gone over the line, Novak says. These ads like the famous daisy ad are part of American politics. Novak says McCain Feingold is the GREATEST FAILURE in legislation he's ever seen!

David Broder says voters have pretty good radar to sort out whats right and what's not in thee ads. We're dealing with a real war, and people know that.

Russert asks Novak about his column that said his sources in the administration are saying we must get out of Iraq by next year. Novak says his sources are political appointees, conservatives, who think Americans cannot tolerate the losses and the beheadings. Novak says the idea we are going to be taking casualties indefinitely is untenable (sp).

Safire says he talks to some of the same people Novak does, and they do say we gotta get outta there by next year, but they also say we have to win. Safire says, Kerry wants out and then turn things over to the UN, while Bush wants to win. The real choice between the two is between cutting and running, or winning. Kearns Goodwin rushes to defend Kerry, says Kerry wants to win too, perhaps Kerry is saying we need the kind of leadership that can make a fresh start. Goodwin says Kerry has to say he wants to win too.

It was Christopher Hitchens came out strong supporting Bush, though he mentioned he was a liberal. He said that his father served in Navy & he said that Real Veterans don't brag about medals like Kerry.

I love to hear or read anything Hitchens has to say. His articles in Vanity Fair are the ONLY reason I still subscribe to that rag. I would have dropped it years ago otherwise.

Once on cspan, Brian Lamb had both Christopher and his brother Peter Hitchens on to hash it out together. It was a fascinating hour or so, which I taped because they're 2 of the most amazing talkers/thinkers around.

Peter is a conservative (though was once a Socialist) and it was well worth hearing these 2 debate each other.

Yes, from what I remember, their father was career military in Britain, they spent some time growing up on Gibraltar, I seem to recall.

Peter's columns are definitely worth looking for in British papers/websites. Looks like his writing appears in the Mail on Sunday now.

I always keep hoping that one day Christopher will leave the left as his brother did years ago. He seems to be inching this way albeit slowly.

It is beautifully ironic that CBS in their attempt to use any means to trash Bush have now rendered themselves useless and impotent and now they cannot use the stupid yellow cake story, they've been plotting.

Hah! Yes!

I'm beginning to think Bush must be only a little lower than the angels if these are the only two things they can use to try to get him.

THEY are all out looking for Lucy Rameriz! I'll bet they are all over at Dan Rather's house looking for LUUUCY!

Tell them to look in Dan's kitchen. She cooks and clean house on weekends and holidays...

If I understand my Scripture, so are we all - and, even then, only for a time. Mr. Bush may just be getting a leg-up.

Thanks for all those high points. Russert just came on here, so I won't have to endure his show! I really resent Broder's lie that the Swiftboat Vets charges have not been proven. 260 vets who served and slept in the same barracks w/Kerry aren't reliable witnesses? Who has Dissproved their charges? Somehow, I musta missed it. I would love to ask Broder if he has read the Unfit book. Betcha he hasn't.

Clearly Hitchens was NOT educated in America. And it shows us how pathetic and ignorant our journalists are.

Sullivan is gay and cannot get beyond the President's stand on marriage being between one man and one woman.

In the discussion last night, Hitchens did say that he is no longer a socialist.
