Thought a thread in Breaking News for the weekend covering Hurricane Jeanne would be a good thing. Post your link, pics, updates and freeper check-in's here
Overall, I think the response is definitely more positive towards Bush than negative regarding the hurricanes. I think after having had 3, and now soon to be 4, people are a little more understanding about aid being slow to get to them and power restored. Both Bush's have been in the state giving speeches of encouragement, and even helping out personally with the relief effort(like passing out ice). The dems are always going to think they are just trying to win votes, but from what I've seen on the local news, the response to this by many undecided's is very much in the president's favor.
I'm not sure about election day and voting. That's a good point regarding people with no cars. We've been signing people up for the last 72 hour volunteering thing here, maybe this point should be stressed that driving people to the polls may be one of the more important ways you can help this year.
Too mcuh crap to put in a post, but here's the most important stuff: Repeating the 1 PM EDT position...26.8 N... 77.9 W. Movement toward...a little north of due west near 14 mph. Maximum sustained winds...115 mph. Minimum central pressure...955 mb.
First laugh I have had all day.
LMAO
I thought you were already on it, but I guess not. Added.
"My daughter and her idiot husband live in Boynton Beach also, between hwy 1 and the beach. He refuses to leave and she won't go without him. The haven't even gotten things repaired from the last one a couple of weeks ago."
Tell her to watch the local abc affiliate- www.wftv.com
Tom Terry is our awesome weather guy- he is telling people anywhere near Rte. 1 to GET THE HELL OUTTA there NOW. This is possibly going to be as bad as Ivan- looking at coming ashore as a Cat 4 ...
For what it's worth, the Dolphin/Steeler game for tomorrow has been postponed. No makeup date yet scheduled.
Stanley Spadowski: What's the matter George?
George Newman: You don't want to know.
Stanley: {scratching head} Well then why'd I ask?
WFTV.com is the local Orlando channel that streamed the news during Frances. Stay safe everyone (my kid is in Port St. John!)
It seems I'm about the only one on the east coast that totally is missed by ALL of those projections.............that scares me.
"If I had an enormous chain I would tie it off to their home."
Sheesh- nice neighbors, eh? The only good thing about your situation - the tree is already "down"...so it's unlikely to do further damage..(here's hoping)
Just remembered, I not only have a new car to replace the stolen one. If the power goes I have A/C and a small TV that can run off the battery. Now I know why I bought that 6 pack
A lot of Floridians are just too psychologically tired to evacuate for Jeanne. That's going to be a problem, and if Jeanne does a Hugo before landfall, it's going to be tragedy.
Looks like the latest path prediction has it going further south. That's good news for PSJ.
I'm from there also. Evac'd to Orlando w/my kids. I live in a mobile. Not taking chances.
Thank you. I try to stay current with the threads, but sometimes when one is posted overnight I miss it in the morning.
ROFL, that's the attitude! You're on the west coast of Florida, right? You should come through this fairly well.
Tom Terry said if you are in Ft. Pierce/Vero-GET OUT~!!!!! 130 mph winds because of the fowrad motion of the storm combined with the 115mph. He said he is getting emotional and if you all trust him PLEASE GET OUT NOW! He said you should be fairly ok if you are in Orlando.
Prayers from a northerner for EVERYONE in Florida. MANY prayers.
