All of the UK's dominions* nominally received independence in 1931 with the Statute of Westminster.
Australia didn't fully sign on though until 1942, NZ 1947, and Newfoundland never did (though they became part of Canada in 1949).
*Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Irish Free State, South Africa and Newfoundland.

Can you get this to the BC/'04 folks BEFORE the debate Thursday? I suggest you e-mail it to Mr. Bernstein with the Bush Campaign. His e-mail address is:

Thank you for your suggestion. I sent the column to Mr. Bernstein at the "suggestion of a mutual friend."

This song popped into my mind.
Wonderful World (Don't Know Much)
by Sam Cooke
Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be
Don't know much about geography
Don't know much trigonometry
Don't know much about algebra
Don't know what a slide rule is for.
But I do know that one and one is two,
And if this one could be with you,
What a wonderful world this would be.
Now i don't claim to be an "A" student,
But I'm trying to be.
For maybe by being an "A" student baby
I can win your love for me.
Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took.
But I do know that I love you,
And I know that if you love me too,
What a wonderful world this would be.
Latatatatatatahuwaah (history)
Oehwoewoe (biology)
Latatatatatatahuwaah (science book)
Oehwoewoe (French I took)
But I do know that I love you,
And I know that if you love me too,
What a wonderful world this would be.

Kerry is helping prove his buddy Mike Moore correct when Moore repeatedly tells the world that most Americans are dumb and ignorant. As we survey the audiences at Kerry's speeches we can see just who Mike Moore is referring to.

I agree.I STILL think Bush is NOT being tought enough in his comebacks to Kerrys bullsh*t claims.Bush also wimped out at the UN .Read Victor Davis Hanson today on NRO..THAT'S what Bush should have said to the UN ..

I do seem to recall that Poland did have some troops fighting with the Allies at the end of the war, though I forget how they'd managed to get out of Poland.
I'm pretty sure Greece and Norway did not, I'm guessing for the author's purposes partisans and Allied powers that did have any troops fighting don't count (otherwise the list would be much longer).
The Phillipines, OTOH, I have no idea.

You've heard of Bataan and Corregidor and the whole death march thing. Though I think the Japanese marched captured American and Filipino troops to Manilla and not Bataan, regardless, most were murdered along the way.

Yes he is. But there is a reason he finds that a natural assumption to make. He is himself "stupid, ignorant, and led around by the mainstream press"...

John Kerry would never allow the facts to get in the way of a good speech.
$$$$$
Which ought to provide some hair-tearing-out moments during the debates.

No doubt. I've pondering whether I'll even be able to watch it without doing major damage to something.
