MARIETTA, Ga., Sept. 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Metro-Atlanta Muslims and Muslim organizations, including Marietta's Masjid Al- Hedaya (Islamic center of Marietta), the Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB), the Council on American-Islamic Relations of North Georgia (CAIR-NGA), and other Georgia mosques will hold an interfaith service at 7 p.m. in Marietta Square for Jack Hensley, a construction worker from that city recently murdered in Iraq.

Masjid Al-Hedaya, ISB and CAIR-NGA recently launched a campaign called "Not in the Name of Islam," designed to disassociate Islam from the violent acts of a few Muslims. Advertisements were published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Marietta Daily Journal on September 11th of this year.

The advertisements stated:

"We, the undersigned Muslims, wish to state clearly that those who commit acts of terror, murder and cruelty in the name of Islam are not only destroying innocent lives, but are also betraying the values of the faith they claim to represent. No injustice done to Muslims can ever justify the massacre of innocent people, and no act of terror will ever serve the cause of Islam. We repudiate and dissociate ourselves from any Muslim group or individual who commits such brutal and un-Islamic acts. We refuse to allow our faith to be held hostage by the criminal actions of a tiny minority acting outside the teachings of both the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him."

Masjid Al-Hedaya is the main house of worship for Muslims in Marietta, Ga. SEE: http://www.alhedaya.com

The Islamic Speakers Bureau is an outreach organization that aims to build a stronger community through sharing information and building relationships. SEE: http://www.isbatlanta.org

The Council on American-Islamic Relations of North Georgia is a local chapter of America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, which has 29 regional offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. SEE: http://www.cair-northgeorgia.org

American Muslims protesting against the Terrorists (dare I say, finally?).

Let's hope it is the start of a trend.

This is just cover. Don't fall for it.

They'll gladly try to distance themselves from it sometimes, but it's all a ploy. Too much evidence that islam is trying to conquor the world in the most violent way possible.

I'm sure the Nazis held PR funeral services for Jews, too.

It's about damned time!

I wonder, though, if this is truely heartfelt - or is it a way to deflect some of the heat American muslims are starting to feel.

if its a honest thing they did then i am all for it...but pardon me for being sceptical. We have seen crocidile tears before. It would be nice to hear more muslims publically standing up for whats right and denounce the acts of terrorism.

I'm sure the Nazis held PR funeral services for Jews, too.

Actually, they didn't. And that's just the point.

American Muslims are starting to feel the pressure of Civilized Opinion, and are having to make a choice between radical Wahhabism and civilized Moderation.

This is a positive development. Even if it's just done for "political cover", it creates a Wedge between "moderate" American Muslims and the more radical Wahhabist clerics.

It is always good to see division in the ranks of your Enemies (or potential Enemies), and such division in their ranks should not be lamented.

Two-faced lying bastards. Worse than john kerry...

They know what's coming for Muhammadanism, world-wide...

"Al Taqiyah" is the name for sanctioned lying, to further islam.

I'll only come to believe it, if the stand becomes more firm, more long term, fewer buzz words of qualification.

Unconditional is what I expect.

Have they "protested" palestinians blowing up discos and busses, full of innocent civilian women, children and old folks? Not yet.

Didn't think so.

Even if they are "just responding to pressure", it's still a positive development. See post #7 -- and never lament Division in the ranks of your Enemy.

I hate the "permitted atrocities" in the Quran...I do like American muslims making a strong statement..They may be feeling the heat because it looks bad for Islam..but we wanted them to speak out so I am glad when they do.

Perhaps, at last, they are beginning to understand that they must stand up and face down this threat - that the threat to American Muslims does not come from Americans, but from Islamic Extremists.

This is certainly a positive step, and one which I want to commend them for taking.

Speaking as someone born and raised in Georgia, I hate the fact that these (****s) are even in my state. Their CAIR press release means nothing to me. They can rot in hell along with the other members of their death cult. I am not falling for their taqiyah

Thank you for the link, Spodefly!! I've been hearing about this "al taqiyah" for sometime, Truth_Seeker. I was born a skeptic and I'll die a skeptic. No blinders for me!!

Maybe when I see them fighting along side of us, with confirmed kills, I may believe (a portion of) what they have to say...but until then, NOPE!!

Nazis weren't a weak minority compared to the Jews. They never needed the PR. There was however propaganda used by the Nazis that put positive spin on their handling of the Jews. See Theresienstadt

If this is a propaganda exercise as others have suggested, it's fairly shrewd.

However we might also consider that many Muslims are refugees from brutal Muslim societies and oppressive governments. They might be seeing in these barbaric acts exactly the things that made them leave their homelands.

I'd observe that this isn't going to make them very popular back home or even with other Muslims here in the States.

Sounds like just tooting in the wind to me. Under the table, they are still giving millions to the Islamic charities for murder, mayhem, and suicide-for-sex.
