Prayer request for my Dad
me ^ | 9/23/04 | texasflower

Posted on 09/23/2004 3:51:08 AM PDT by texasflower

Hi everyone. My Dad has had two strokes in the last few days. He is only 64 years old. So far, he is very weak and confused but is still able to talk. The doctor is warning of the strong possibility of more strokes with progressing severity.

Will you please pray for my dad and my family as we deal with this?

Thank you all. It means so much.

Prayers sent..

To be honest, if his last wish is to vote, I would pray for his wish to be fullfilled even if it were a vote for Kerry..

May God grant Your Father's last request, and the strength to follow through..

God's Blessings upon you and yours..
May he be with you all of your days..

My prayers are for your Dad and the family.

Dear Father, You know the needs of all here and You hear and answer all our prayers. From this moment on place Your loving arms around Dad, texasflower and all the family and friends, nurses and caretakers.

For the caretakers, we ask for an extra portion of patience and understanding and grant them rest as needed. By your sweet presence give them peace.

In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thanks for the ping, trussel.

First, I offer my prayers for your father.

According to the Texas SOS website:

There are two ways to vote early in Texas. 1. Early Voting in person- Early voting in person may be easier than you think. You don't have to stand in long lines on Election Day. Registered voters may vote early at a location convenient
to them within their political subdivision. Early voting in person starts 17 days before each election unless
the first day falls on the weekend, then early voting begins on the following Monday and ends 4 days before each election. If you can drive or if you have a friend or relative who can drive you, you don't even have to get out of the car. Call ahead to notify the early voting clerk that you want to vote from your car. This procedure is called "curbside voting" and is available to any voter who has difficulty walking or standing for long periods. The election official will bring your ballot to your car outside the polling place. Curbside voting is available during early voting and on Election Day. Texas law requires all early and Election Day polling locations to be physically accessible to voters with disabilities. Call your election official for information on your particular voting sites.

http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/pamphlets/earlyvote.shtml

Good luck! God bless you and your dad.

Also, to specifically answer your question, this is from the Texas SOS:

VOTERS MAY RECEIVE ASSISTANCE AT THE POLLS
You are entitled to receive assistance if you:

Cannot read or write; or Have a physical disability that prevents you from reading or marking the ballot. Tell the election official that you need help to vote. You do not have to provide proof of your disability. You may be assisted by: Any person of your choice; Two election workers on Election Day; or One election worker during early voting.

THANK YOU!!!!!! Thanks so much for posting this information for me.

I will talk to my dad in the morning and see if he wants the ambulance to take him to a polling place on the way home tomorrow.

One of us will be with him anyway, so if he's up to it we will do it tomorrow.

At the very least, he would probably feel okay to get out and vote in a couple of days.

Thanks again! This will make him happy!

Tammy

Tammy,

You're so welcome. Just make sure (according to the Texas SOS,) that you call them AHEAD of time. How cool is that, that your dad can vote curbside? God bless him. :)
