You'd never get 35 small population states to ratify it. The question is posed only by socialists with no respect for the constitution or for states' rights.

I bet you could get a panel of liberal judges to declare this part of the Constitution repealed by some sort of post-modern penumbra of the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment.

Man, they'd have to be awfully liberal judges who rejected every case law on point to date, and who were willing to re-write the Constitution in the face of the plain language in it.

We are nowhere near the point of having that happen today. I can't say it won't happen a hundred years from now, but even liberal judges haven't begun to get that brazen.

Hey, it just like voting in real life. Remember, vote early, vote often.

My sociology professor told the class that Gore really won. She also promoted the populus vote and expressed to the class how the popular vote is better. I began explaining how the electoral college worked, but was cut off.

Later, I gave a speech on the republic and electoral college. I used the 2000 electoral map to explain how it really was, why the Founding Fathers chose this method, and gave them other stats. The class and instructor were impressed and many of the students asked questions.

The students told me they thought my speech would be boring but found it interesting. I guess that is one benefit of going to college in your fifties.

Every project and research paper I have done has some connection to my conservatism. I figure that's one way to get my views across and effective.

This poll is being DU'd. The "Yes" just went from 95 to 89 % in a matter of minutes!

I saw one today, looks like it will win. The article indicated that the Colorado public seemed ambivalent about it or were not very well informed. At least it will keep Presidential candidates from invading them every four years.

They have a "bot" going apparently. No way to win against a bot unless you have your own. It will be back up to 95% against soon.

In all fairness the idea was to balance out the small population states versus large population states. My biggest problem with it is the apportionment based on raw population + 2, even if you do not vote your vote is counted and your vote if you do vote may actually go to the other candidate. Any way you look at it in that manner it is bad. But Bush beat Gore so that was good.

C-SPAN has one lousy online poll.

With a popular vote, the big (inner cities) would control the government and the rest of us would have no voice. Just a few cities have more than half America's population. The liberals know that and are pushing this, along with trying to allow felons to vote.

C-SPAN has one lousy online poll.

It keeps resetting to zero. It may have a trigger that resets it if the vote gets skewed or they get a bunch of repetitive hits from the same IP.

Or it could be just a piece of crap.

In all fairness, the only genuine argument against the Electoral College is that it is "undemocratic".
That is exactly why it exists. It is part of what makes us a republic. Changing to the direct election of Senators was bad enough, but that's another story.
