Agreed, this will be their approach for the time being. Call it a "modified limited hang out." But now that their blood is in the water, they have absolutely no ability to control the story. Someone's going to win a Pulitzer getting to the bottom of this.

CBS staff are on the breaking point. The direct number to the CBS news desk is 212-975-3691 I called and asked when Rather would apologize to the President. The girl was very peeved and said I should go to the gym and work off my anger. Click. She went to Customer Service Training Classes for sure. Give them a call, they'll love it.

Thanks for the tip! Just called and the gal was a little short with me too, but said she'd pass along my comment. I told her it was good that D.R. was apologizing to the public, but that he really owed President Bush an apology also. Yeeee Haaaaa!

I'm not getting my hopes up - all Dan-o's gonna do is mirror his memo. Contrition, doubtful. Let me predict that he will still maintain the "substance of the story is still true and should be investigated". He is a biased Bush-hater working in a raging liberally-biased Bush-hating news organization, only troubled because he got caught lying. But he would do it again in a heartbeat if he thought it would fly. Also, no one will get fired.

Major Garrett, on Special Report with Brit Hume, just reported that Dan Rather says that "he feels like hell."

Garrett then snidely added "even critics of CBS probably believe that is true!"

So far CBS has said the documents cannot be authenicated, not that they are frauds..and they are standing by their "story", I believe....

Very limited apology for not investigating the docs more thoroughly...Misled about source of docs...will cite Barnes and the secretary(who is caught saying conflicting things about whether she was aware of Bush's service)and did disown the documents."Questions about Bush receiving special treatment and not fulfilling his duties linger"

I think you're right, but am quite sure that info is not used by Nielsen for ratings purposes.
