what you suggest would fail in this context, even if they did ditch kerry. I think it would result in total democrat non-turnout (even for hillary, who wouldn't take such a sure-loser bet) and 60%+ vote for bush.
To: bootyist-monk
"Burkett gives the docs to Kerry. Kerry tells them to run the hit on Bush. Gives CBS the information to contact Burkett. Everything circles back to Burkett, with Robin Rather probably facilitating the contacts.
This isn't going away. It's only gonna get bigger."
And what if it IS traced back to Kerry himself? Then what?

Notice he didn't mention Burkett was from the Army NG to make him look more credible. Not to mention his time in the Nut House or his hatred of GW and member of the DNC. This was a CYA piece to further lie to the American People. This goes straight to the Kerry Campaign.

"Watching him have to swallow the memos, without even the chance to defend their contents."
So it's like I've said all along - the ink is true, the paper it's printed on is a lie.
I must be as nuanced as John Kerry if I can decipher that...

CNN just announced an online poll: "Should Dan Rather resign?"
CNN

Here's a down note: Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall St. Journal is on Hardball. She's a tough cookie. Yet she's saying she doesn't think Rather has a bias against the Bush's (!) and that this situation came about simply because Rather wanted to break a big story.
To: kidd
Ok, that's definitely grounds for owing me a new keyboard!

I agree, they have not retracted the original story, only stated that they can't verify the documents. They must admit the documents are forgeries if they expect to gain any traction whatsoever. Saying they can't verify the documents and not addressing the fact that numerous document examiners have stated that they are obvious forgeries makes CBS look like they are not sincere. That couldn't be true, could it? Mrs PD
To: tdadams
CBS News has turned this case into a farce! They ignored these people and this evidence -
1:Killian's son
2:Killian's wife
3:Every document examiner they hired that told them the docs had problems.
4:The obvious differences in appearence from other real docs.
Dan Rather nor the producer was duped, they INTENTIONALLY ran with a story they KNEW was bogus!
Why are they continuing down this avenue because NOW there is more questions about why Dan Rather IGNORED the people who provided evidence the docs were fake?

The numbers are pitiful so far!
To: unsycophant
If Burkett gave them a false source, how did CBS verify that source? And who sent them to Burkett? Rather said they (CBS) went to Burkett, not Burkett to CBS.

They can do it, but they will have to poll to see who would measure up. Nobody else would even crack single digits, so they may as well keep Kerry.

It looks like Dan the Man is trying to save his buttinski....and his daughter's. He'll use every occasion to bash GW and blame the WH for not examining the documents carefully and letting CBS know they were fake. See it's GW's fault.
