Wow, I'm shocked if this is the case. Didn't think they'd do anything but deny until after the election.

This election is over. Rather has blown it. I think they're trying to cut off further investigation into the link between the Kerry campaign-Rather-the docs.

I think the link between Cleland and Burkett shows a quid pro quo.

We must now ask Kerry: What did you know Senator and when did you know it?

I just heard about CBS caving in on Drudge's radio show, and he was wondering who they would pick as the fall guy.

It won't be Rather.

I smell a rat (surprise).

Rather zooms off to Dallas, meets with Burkett.

They decide that Burkett should say HE was deceived by the person who gave him the docs, and that HE isn't going to say who it is, and he'll go to jail rather than reveal the source. Maybe as a bonus he says it's a mythical GOP operative who hoodwinked him.

Rather says "what can we do? we were deceived, it happens."

Rather "saves face" (in his twisted little mind), enough to survive at CBS until he retires. Burkett takes the heat (what does he care, and besides he may be getting DNC money to keep his mouth shut).

Short of a smoking gun proving what I believe is happening, only falling ratings (into the Grand Canyon) and intense outrage from affiliates and advertisers will take this guy off the air.

CBS does have a flare for the understatement. Decieved? Their credibility is as thin as a gnats a** stretched over a rain barrell and they want "decieved?"

Dewey Comptons farm news has more audience than they do.

...and are launching an intensive, in-depth investigation.

Into what? Tracking down period typewriters for next time?

CBS lost all credibility when they said they were not going to investigate. They had perhaps a few hours to change their minds after Newcomer published his analysis.

The producers of this show, along with dan and the CEO, are gonna lose big time.

I'm sure that Dan Rather wants to be the first to break this story.

I saw news clip today (Sunday) showing Blather leaving Dallas airport concourse to get into a car in . He was smiling, and smirking and just seemed to be reveling in all the ATTENTION HE WAS GETTING.. Sorta reminded me of those boys in Junior High School that were sent to the Principles office for discipline, for shooting spitballs, or whatever. Far from being upset about it, most were loving it. Loving all the attention they were getting. Thus, it's my opinion that Dan Blather is having a good ole time, loving all the attention he is getting!!

BTW, who the hell watches the MSM networks? In our house, we listen to Rush during the day. In the evenings, watch The History Channel, Discovery, Outdoor Channel (fishing/hunting), M*A*S*H, WINGS, Fox News, and classic movies. That's about it. All the rest is crap soap operas, silly sit-coms and mis-reported left-slanted 'news.'

RATHER ODD that this should happen on the heels of this article:

Bush Questions Authenticity of 'Documents' - Keeping the Story Alive.

Drudge Link ^ | September 18TH 2004 | Reuters

Posted on 09/18/2004 4:28:26 PM CDT by Presto

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) questioned the authenticity of documents aired by CBS News that said he received special treatment during his Vietnam-era service in the National Guard, according to a Bush interview published on Saturday.

"There are a lot of questions about the documents and they need to be answered," Bush told the Union Leader newspaper of Manchester, New Hampshire, after a week in which some experts questioned whether the documents had been fabricated by those seeking to damage Bush in his re-election race.

"I think what needs to happen is people need to take a look at the documents, how they were created, and let the truth come out," Bush added. (Excerpt) Read more at news.yahoo.com ...
