~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~
ArmyPatch small   NavySeal small   Air Force Seal   Marines Seal small   Coast Guard Seal small (better)

The military seems to have a language of its own, with many terms, acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world."

What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word.

What is an initialism? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words, but each letter is spoken separately.

What is an abbreviation? It is a shortened version of a word.

What is Short Speak? It is any and all of the above.

Want to know what  they are talking about?  Read on...

Hey, there....I've pretty much been awol today. Monday and Tuesday's are LONG days at work, and popping in is iffy at best. Then today I got my brand new computer back from the doctor. I love it so far, but it has no bookmarks, no favorites, etc, etc. Everything I "reach" for isn't there. LOL!! I do have access to music. Gotta request?

Whatever you're listening to! My tastes in music are pretty wide, although I do not care for the newer rap music. Lately for the last 6 months I've been in sort of a classic rock sort of mood, that's to say, rock music from the 60's, 70's, and early 80's. :)

If you have 'em handy, you could play some of our standard fun songs: "My Bommerang Won't Come Back" or "Mississippi Squirrel Revival." Or "Purple People Eater." Or "Witch Doctor." Or let BSF (who has FReepmail, btw!) pick which one of 'em he wants to hear. ;)

HAHA! I tracked down "Witch Doctor" for my Dad several months ago. He couldn't remember the title, but he remembered it was the voices of The Chipmunks, so I tracked it down searching for The Chipmunks and found it under Dave Seville. LOL

The MBABGDITW#2, who'll be 3 in November, is learning how to sing "Witch Doctor."

MBABGDITW = Most Beautiful and Brilliant GrandDaughter in the World

MHABGSITW = Most Handsome and Brilliant GrandSon in the World

(You *may* see them mentioned occasionally in the Canteen.) ;)

Good morning, E. ((HUGS)) Got my new computer up and running. Norton 2005 installed and set to do updates all by itself. Only problem is no favorites, no bookmarks, and nothing is where I used to have it.
