BOSTON - Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) reminded his hometown supporters at a $3 million fund-raiser Saturday night that he's come from behind to win elections before.
"Let me tell you something, these folks have got me in fighting mood," Kerry said of rival President Bush (news - web sites)'s campaign. "When I get in a fighting mood towards the end of September and towards the beginning of October, I think you know what happens here in Massachusetts."
The crowd of donors, which included Democrats from the state's congressional delegation and other statewide elected officials, rose to its feet cheering, with several people pumping their fists in the air boxer-style.
Bush opened a lead over Kerry in polls taken after the Republican National Convention earlier this month, but some recent surveys show the race tightening again.
Kerry has had several close races before in his home state, dating back to his slim victory in the 1982 primary for lieutenant governor up to a come-from-behind win against Republican William Weld in 1996.
"I feel those October juices flowing," Kerry said. "And I've been at this for a while and when those juices get flowing, I feel good. Let me tell you, we feel it happening."
Bruce Percelay, a national vice chairman of Kerry's campaign, told the crowd they raised $3 million for the Democratic National Committee (news - web sites)'s presidential campaign fund. The campaign said the donations came from 1,200 people.
Also on Saturday, Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, taped a 30-minute segment for the "Dr. Phil" show at Boston's Four Seasons hotel. The show, which also features Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife, Robin, was on parenting and is scheduled to air Oct. 6.
There was no studio audience and the taping was closed to the press. Kerry promoted the show at his fund-raiser.
"It was fun to be with a prominent Texan who tells the truth," he joked.
President Bush and his wife have also taped a segment, set to air Sept. 29, according to the Kerry campaign.
LOL - more like Kerry's juiced if he thinks he's gonna win!
Did anyone tell his wife that "his juices" are about to start flowing again????? Perhaps that is why she has that horrible look on her face!
Right. It looks like Kitty Kelley will lead the final assault with her trashy anti-Bush screed "The Family". The liberal media will follow her in, attacking on any angle that looks like its credible and significant enough to hurt Bush. However, unless the attack moves the polls, it should be over within a week or so.
I am so grossed out by his nails.
Oh gross, even the thought of it!!
LOL!!
It could also be a hefty case of halitosis.
This may well define Kerry's campaign when it's all over; ten months of warming up and one day of campaign.
Although he looks more like this:
Or a hefty FACE of halitosis!
"I feel those October juices flowing," Kerry said. "And I've been at this for a while and when those juices get flowing, I feel good. Let me tell you, we feel it happening."
Okay, John, whadya choose: rock, paper or scissors?
That disgusting woman is not setting foot in our White House.
If it ever were to happen, I'm sure her first order of business would be to disallow the children from wearing clothes.
Probably paper so he can make his spitballs. He'll really have the terrorists on the run, once he shows his ability to "fight"!
She would be an absolute disgrace. I cannot imagine that she has anything at all to do practically with running Heinz.
I have no inside knowledge at all, but the best I can guess is that Kerry decided he was going to run this thing as a carbon copy of his statewide races in Massachusetts. Either he is so unapproachable, even to his own intimates, that no one was willing to tell him, "that's not going to work, Senator," or someone did tell him and he was too stubborn to listen, or too stupid to understand why.
However this may have come about, the incompetence of this campaign is of such magnitude as to be, in itself, a clear indication that the candidate is incompetent to hold the office of President (which absolutely requires considerable managerial skill and strategic aptitude).
If Kerry somehow pulls this off, I'm genuinely frightened, and not just because Kerry is liberal, feckless, weak on defense, and so on. This goes beyond ideology or party. There is every reason to believe a Kerry administration would lead to even greater disaster than could be achieved by wrong policy alone.
It would certainly be one gigantic green light for muslim terrorists to mobilize.
Yeah, the Republicans, knowing they can't win in that state, put a tomato can in front of you and you tip him over with your pinkie.
You can't handle the big leagues, kerry. Those people at your fundraiser just flushed 3 mil down the potty.
Of course, that is why the terrorists want K to win!
In his home town < snicker > with Mommy TeRAYzah there < snicker again >
