Mapes and Burkett may be the fallpeeples, but my gut hunch is that it's Rather's daughter who's the point person and cohourt for her father.

I think the daughter is the reason that ole Dan is frantically trying to orchestrate a cover-up with the ferocity of a lioness defending her cubs.

Well, if the guy was suffering from a serious mental disorder (could happen to anyone, after all) and even got hospitalized for it - has he been cured by now? After all, he's no longer in a hospital. Presumably he's deemed sane enough to have a driver's license, and to be held responsible for his doings.

Rush made a statement a week ago Friday - he said that the DNC received the documents, gave them to the Kerry campaign, who in turn gave them to Mapes - and ultimately to Dan Rather.

My theory is - Burkett dictated the "memos" to someone at the Travis County DNC (where Robin - Rather's daughter is affiliated) - the "memos" were then given to McAwful - who gave them to Kerry - who released them to CBS through Mapes - who is a producer in Dallas.

It's my understanding Mapes has been working on trying to make this a story for 4-5 years. Evidently, somebody knew this information and decided to make hay out of it. Like Goldberg said, Dan wanted it to be true so it was easy to fool him. But .. once he knew they were frauds .. he covered it up.

This will cost CBS their remaining credibility.

Sorry, but for them to be admitted to a HOSPITAL, as this gent was, and in his previous lawsuit, he alleged permanent psyc damage, he would have to pass a three prong test.

He is mentally unsound. (There must be serious affect of the thought process or psychosis)
He is a danger to himself or others (If not a danger to self or others, pt is treated as an outpatient.)
His condition is such that he will not improve without hospitalization (no spontaneous remission, no raving drunk who will be OK when sober)

If the admitting physician, the doctor who signs the admitting orders, does not see all three, there can be no admission.

The mentally ill person you mentioned may not have confided a self or outwardly directed agression-danger, but the admitting physician must have seen it, or made a judgment that was there.

There can be no admission without it. It's that simple
