According to CHannel 4, people are literally running from airplanes for cover at Dulles. Dulles is shut down
What were those drinks they made in those tall take-home glasses? It seems forever ago...
The son of my wife's friend got smacked by a tree trunk while outrunning the Remington event. He was watching in the rear view mirror at cars that had pulled over when he saw four cars flip over.
You must have had that Angel sitting on your shoulder!
It's not false. Many of the days this spring with wildly overhyped tornado totals in the Midwest had upwards of 7-8 SPC "reports" that people were counting as individual tornadoes that were clearly one tornado.
Each individual day and location of an outbreak is different; you can have an individual day somewhere where it ends up as a 20% reduction, but by and large the true reduction is a LOT more.
If it looks like one acts like one who cares what they call it 60 days from now...they happen to be the weather experts...and are "allowed" to be wrong (and are) 50% of the time...before and after...take cover and play it safe!
Well, I was just a little girl, so it was Shirley Temples for me. I could use one now. I'm supposed to be out with a friend tonight to get over my broken heart, but here I sit in my pajamas because of these twisters!
Prayers for all.
I bet these poor people have no idea what to do with twisters. Hope there's not major loss of life....
I'm down near the Philly area

Democrats hardest hit!
Just kidding.
Don't know for sure, but I was up in Brainerd MN
when there was a tornado which tore up Brainerd
International Raceway.
This was a tornado confirmed by the National Weather
Service, and all the while, the local radio was
going nuts with reports of things like
"we have reports of a tornado forming in the K-Mart
parking lot"...since this was a weekend evening
we were in stitches.
PS I was camping & due to the trees, only saw the
tail end of the storm. The top rear of the storm
had what I can best describe as a "halo" or circular
rainbow; it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen
--next to my wife, that is :-)
Can any meteorological-type FReepers describe the
halo phenomonenon?
;-)
I teach in the area...we had kids coming in off of busses on their way home. Scary is right. CSHS held the kids there for quite a while instead of letting them leave. SMART MOVE!! Our school system is famous for their poor judgement when it comes to weather and hauling kids.
Good plan. One can never take risks with the ice cream. I think I'll get some, too. I heard it was the drug of choice for a broken heart. It goes directly to the hips, makes men lose interest in us, and...voila!...no more broken hearts!
I kept my young'un home today, as I was afraid downtown would flood and she'd be stuck at Catholic. It was supposed to close at 1:15, so they locked the school down and herded all the kids into a downstairs hallway.
Of course, we had a blasted tornado come down way too close to comfort, as we are not far from Goodview Elementary, where there was tornado damage.
We hauled all the critters into the basement, and waited til the all clear was given.
We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto!
Had a tornado a few miles from me late afternoon. We've had about 4 inches of rain today and are under a tornado watch til 12pm.
I'm amazed at the energy this thing still has. There are tornados all over the place. All local news stations have been covering it non-stop.
Still have power but Old Dominion Power(VEPCO) says 16,000 are without power in Va.
It is supposed to rain here until mid Sat. There are bands so you get it and then get some relief until the next band.
It hasn't been a fun day. I'm doing my computing from the basement!
