I just noticed this:

Our Data Center provider, Equinix, is currently down due to weather conditions in the Washington D.C. area. This is affecting the news.giganews.com cluster

Just talked to my best friend, who's living in my house in Stafford. They had to hunker down at her brother's to wait for one to clear out by the courthouse, and they are now home and heading for the basement. They should be fine as long as they stay there.

Fingers crossed.

Stay away from the windows. If your building has a basement go there. If not, I used to go to an interior stairwell when I worked in a highrise in downtown Dallas. Stairwells usually are reinforced with concrete and steel and have no windows.

Put some sturdy shoes on no matter what. This was one thing I never really thought about until a tornado damaged a friends home and they had to walk around on broken glass in bare feet.

You and family are in our prayers. Be careful and let me know when you can that everything is ok.
