"FREE REPUBLIC" REPORTED ON, BY NAME, IN JAPANESE PRESS, AS HAVING STIRRED UP PREZ. RACE (Link)
CNET Japan (in Japanese) ^ | Sept. 13, 2004 | CNET Japan (from original article by John Borland)

Free Republic has been reported on, for the first time that I know of, in the Japanese- language press online.

Granted, it is a Japanese translation of a recent original on-line American article; nevertheless, it has been no doubt seen by thousands of Japanese readers on the Internet!

Here is the URL, (as well as linked above):

Jim would certainly know that one (bout FR membership increase these past few days and weeks). I am sure it has increased dramatically, as has our 'hit rate' (reads). No doubt about it.

Arigato, AmericanInTokyo-san -

Just curious: what's the Japanese phonetic for "Free Republic" itself? "Fu-ri Ri-pa-bu-riku", perhaps?

But see we're compassionate ;)

ALthough I would call him an American Gaijin (definitely not Gaikokojin).

Who's up for a FR Japan ping list?

we've had one for a long time.

also, check "Freepers in Japan" on FR....there are probably at least 10-15 registered ones and countless hundreds of lurkers, both military and civilian and Japanese nationals....

Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country." Semper Fi 1stSgt Dave Jobe

I think it is time to expand, maybe get our own political correspondents, reporters and who knows, maybe we can even buy CBS.

But did they talk about us being in pajamies.

I don't know, but I do believe they are saying something about Rather getting caught with his kimono open.

Hello to our Japanese friends. If I may, I will reach back into the DFU Archives. Sharon Stone's husband got a private tour at the Los Angeles zoo and wanted to see a komodo dragon up close. They allowed him into the cage. Ouch.

(Click on the link to get the music.)
MIDI - SUKIYAKI

I love Komodo dragons…just like I did red wagons
They are so sweet…they just love licking people’s feet
On Father’s Day…I might just get my way
And I’ll get to see one right up close

I love Komodo dragons…just like I did red wagons
Their skin is cool and they do not treat people cruel
On Father’s Day…I might just get my way
And I’ll get to see one right up close

My wife said “I have a surprise for you-ou-ou-ou
So close your eyes and we’re off to the zoo-oo-oo-oo"

I love Komodo dragons…just like I did red wagons
Smart as can be…and for food they will not mistake me
On Father’s Day…I might just get my way
And I’ll get to see one right up close

(musical interlude)

I love Komodo dragons…just like I did red wagons
They are safe pets…I am willing to place some bets
On Father’s Day…I might get my way
And I’ll get to see one right up close

(musical interlude)

I love Komodo dragons…just like I did red wagons
I said, “Dear, please…don’t excite them by spreading your knees”
On Father’s Day…I might just get my way
And I’ll get to see one right up close

Oh, no…my toe is hurting…it hurts like hell-ell-ell-ell

LOL! This is how my Sherlock Translation program (Japanese to English) translated the paragraph with FR mentioned:

"It televised concerning the memo which assumes that in the program, CBS 60 Minutes II, that superior of that time when Bush president has been attached to the duty of Texas National Guard, showed the fact that doubt is held in regard to the military service of the president. Immediately after the that, on the web site where the conservative color which is called FreeRepublic.com is strong, those memos could do writing of anonymity of random."

Here's the second paragraph mentioning FR:

"Scott Johnson attorney of Minneapolis residence morning of 9 days, in Blog "POWER Line" where the conservative color which itself manages is strong, stretched the link to the contribution which was written to FreeRepublic. With that, until the repair man of the typewriter which from the original military officials person works in IBM, the mail from the various readers rushed in. The many of them being special, the typography of memo - concerning, detailed analysis had become the contents which do. Johnson published the excerpt of the message which is sent with the mail on Blog, but as for the large portion of that, as for memo of problem they were the contents which you insist that the possibility of being forged is high."
