The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us outside the Washington, D.C. bureau of CBS News as we stand with our friends Accuracy in Media to call for CBS to come cleIY @ over the forged documents story.
We will be urging the firing of CBS News President Andrew Heyward, anchor Dan Rather and producer Mary Mapes for their gross irresponsibility in foisting the forged Texas Air National Guard documents on the American people.
Accuracy in Media and the D.C. Chapter held a similar demonstration last year at the New York Times' D.C. bureau in the wake of the Jayson Blair scandal where we called for the firing of Howell Raines.
When: Tuesday, September 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: The sidewalk in front of CBS News, 2020 M Street, NW, Washington, D.C.
Bring: Signs bearing messages calling for the firing of Heyward, Rather and Mapes, as well as signs pointing out CBS' record of outrageously biased reporting.
This is a permitted demonstration.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Please note: This is a non-political protest. Do not bring or wear any material advocating for or against any political candidate.
Maybe it should be CAN RAthER
Ping.
Bring plenty of signs -- forged but accurate. If need be, fax them from Kinko's in Abilene.
What's teh frequency, Kenneth?
Check out the transcript of Rather's February 2003 interview with Saddam Hussein.
60 MINUTES OF LIES!
(my humble sign idea)
Please do wear your pajamas and post plenty of photos later -- for us Leftcoasters!
Another sign?:
No more KinkoNews!
And this one:
Hey Dan, we haven't had this much fun since Watergate!
Always good to see your screen name in action. Glad you're doing okay.
Great! See you Tuesday.
Thanks, Jim!
Okay, okay, good---I was looking for a new caption for the 60 Minutes stopwatch, you've just given it to me. :D
Thanks for the info on the museum opening. We should be okay. I wouldn't expect alot of press coverage if it were just a normal day in D.C., so if hardly anyone shows up to cover this it'll be par for the course for us.
The "Can Rather" is funny.
I'm IN! Let's go! DC FReepers shouldn't have all the fun!!!
Kristinn! Way to go!
Send a FReepmail to Firebrand, the Tri state leader. She can assist.
That image would make an excellent sign for Tuesday.
