ABC Radio: Staudt says no pressure to aid Bush
ABC Radio News | 09-17-04 | ABC News

ABC News has an exclusive interview with Col. Stoudt, the retired colonel who allegedly pressured Killian to cover for Lt. Bush during his Air National Guard stint according to forged documents aired by CBS News.

Stoudt says the docs are fake, he never pressured Killian about Bush and he did nothing to help Bush get into the Air National Guard in fact he was happy to have as many pilots as he could.

Old hat... 8<)

George Magazine quoted him in their Oct 2000 story that covered the same points that Rather tried to re-open.

Except George Magazine, although a liberal source and somewhat critical of George Bush, gave him credit where credit was due, and did NOT write a hatchet job.

Col. Stoudt is attacking Dan Blather's patriotism.

A report today said CBS has been investigating this for 4 years.

And in all that time they never contacted a principle in the affair???

SHODDY, CRAPPY, BIASED, REPORTING!!!

they were afraid he would say what he said and ruin their story with the truth....

CBS=L

While General Staudt hasn't spoken up this time around until now, He did speak up as late as the 2000 election.

He has always said there was no favoritism and that the TANG in 1968 was always short of qualified pilot candidates.

This is consistent with every comment he has ever given about President Bush's service.

Oh, my yes.

And now that the facade of decency and balance is crumbling around the MSM, I have a sense of deep satisfaction about it all......

It's been 30 years.......30 long years.

It's the hatred for our good President that has done them in, I think, and there's poetic justice in that.

I'm amazed that it has taken this long to get an on the record interview with this guy. He should have been number one on the CBS list but I guess they didn't think there was any need to "fact check" when you have an "unimpeachable source".

Staudt wasn't available. He didn't want to talk to them until he'd finished building his barn (scroll down)

I think the "sugar coat" memo was worded specifically to pre-empt anything Staudt had to say on the issue, as they already knew his position & they didn't want anyone with credibility poking holes in the story they wanted people to believe.

Then they did a really crappy job of sanitizing the forgery, because Staudt also stated in the interview (according to ABC) that he didn't tell anyone under his command to "sugarcoat" George Bush's evaluations.

I hope more and more people hear about how our Vietnam Vets were slandered. What happened to them, at the hands of Kerry and CBS and the Winter Soldiers is such an outrage that it's amazing that our vets were so quiet for so long.

I thought I also saw some kind of statement by him back in February, like, this year. I think it was a story about the big batch of records released by the WH.

Watch now, they'll say he was the guy who had pressured Killian, so anything he says is suspect.

Indeed, it looks like the last lifeboat just took off.

Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country." Semper Fi 1stSgt Dave Jobe
