Three-year-old Sophia Parlock cries while seated on the shoulders of her father, Phil Parlock, after having their Bush-Cheney sign torn up by Kerry-Edwards supporters on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va. Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) made a brief stop at the airport as he concluded his two-day bus tour to locations in West Virginia and Ohio. Hey, I'm just telling you what they're saying amongst themselves. But I'm with you. They're the ones who want to squelch dissent. Some commies may get pushed around at a Republican rally, but someone merely holding a sign for the opposition is far safer among Republicans than they are Democrats.
Of course, that's only when they have strength in numbers.
Professional victim.
I did read in a couple places where this guy had had this happen at past rallies, I think during the Gore campaign.
Here's my objection. He went to a Edwards rally. He probably had to smuggle in the signs (I don't think they let you into a rally with signs for the opposition). Shoe on the other foot, people who were protesting have been escorted out of Republican rallies.
We only have the guy's word that he didn't say something to "rile the crowd" and if it was you with your 3 year old there, wouldn't you have left as soon as you sensed trouble (i.e. angry crowd). If the crowd was really angry, he endangered his little child.
I'm not taking one side or another really, just trying to say we don't really know the whole story, just from a photo. All we know from the photo is the girl was crying but we don't know if the father was looking for a photo-op.
It is not that important or critical.
And with that line of thought, then we ought to repost all the articles already on FR a few dozen times, right?
Ridiculous. And it goes against the rules set out by the site owner.
Maybe you should acquaint yourself with them.
He's making the talk show rounds today, too.
But the three year old would have to be if they were her brothers....
Yeah, that's totally the same guy. Someone needs to tell these people "thanks", but "no thanks"...
Someone should demand that Kerry make a statement about this behavior. He should tell his supporters to stop this crap, unless he approves of it.
Michigan hat? Michigan shirt?
Its really not that hard to make a little 3 year old girl cry. Of course, when a dad does it, on purpose, for his own weird ends, I think its known as "child abuse" and generally considered a crime, which I reckon is where this case will end up.
It would be too easy to prove that the "thug" was her brother. He could be a cousin though, everyone in WVa is related to one another.
You must be kidding. I am guessing you dont have any Three year olds?
Do you have kids? Big brother rips your sign, I think you'd cry at age 3.
Interesting link at # 10.
This far left blog accuses one of the father's older son's of impersonating the union thug, basically for publicity and showing the Kerry supporter's in a very bad light.
One son, a WVa. guardsman, posted here last night as spiderman9.
He was at the rally, although much farther back, and confirmed what is shown in the picture.
I don't think it is an indictment of the father that he goes to the opposition's rallies with his signs and kids. A field trip in democracy, if you will.
Spiderman9, please read the link, and clear this up for us. Was one of your brother's impersonating the union thug who ripped the sign out of your sister's hands?
Let me guess. You spent your time in the USMC as a Remington Rider?
You nailed it. That is why they scurry like the Rats they are key cars in the middle of the night. If a car owner caught them it would be a different story.
