I've just discussed this matter with my local baseball-cap repairman. He assures me that Michigan baseball caps are available by special order in West Virginia. He sees nothing in that baseball cap that is inconsistent with baseball caps available to genuine union thugs.

Your instinct would be... what then? Most likely a non-reaction (physically). Frustration, sadness that I'm in a position where I can't do anything about it because the situation will get more violent and ugly for my kids if I escalate the confrontation by fighting back.

Thanks for clarifying things - I heard your Dad on Glenn Beck this morning and he sounded totally sincere, and on closer inspection, I don't think that guy looks like your brother. On the radio, he said he was in the process of trying to leave when the pictures were taken, which explains his facial expression.
I'm glad the Freepers are open-minded enough to explore all of the possibilities, rather than just "drinking the kool-aid," but I believe you and your Dad that this was not a set-up.

That's it, Dan. Stand by the story. Okay, I'll give you that shot. I'm not exactly sure it's me responding like this. I think I've just had it up to here with the "Is it Real or Is It Memorex?" nature of anything to do with the media. I demand truth from my fellow Republicans, not smoke and mirrors. This smacks of something the dems would do, not my party. That's all. Like I said, I will be the first to admit I'm wrong. I won't impugn it any further. I've said what I had to say. It doesn't make me a Dem shill or Dan Rather. Anyone who reads my posts knows where I stand.

We may have been Ra
thered. Check out what they are saying about this incident over at the anti-war
Rising Hegemon According to this blog, this Phil Parlock has done this sort of thing several times before, and has been assaulted in the past, so he can't really claim to be surprised at the crowd reaction. But, most devestatingly, the goon with the reversed baseball cap bears a striking resemblance to his own son.
This may be a set-up from the git-go!

You're such a knee-jerk thinker. You see one photograph and attribute motives. Not very analytical of you.
I just may know more than you do about this.
I'll check back with you later and we'll see if the union guy is a Parlock or not and who got suckered (by a speculative post on a left-wing blog, no less.)

Actually, that's probably a Marshall logo on the hat.
And Marshall U is in Huntington, West Virginia - The local team.

I am not passing judgement on the picture; but, at the very least I would have probably turn around and left with the kids to get them to a safe location. He had others from his family at the event, so presumably he could have found someone to watch the kids, or at least warn the others to beware of the union thugs. Then again, people don't always react in a cool and calculated way when confronted with something like this; so the father's reaction may be perfectly normal.

I posted a duplicate of this one too, which the moderators removed.
The reason I did so is that the earliest post had a headline that the poster made up. And the reason he made it up is that the original AP story on Yahoo didn't have a headline.
After Drudge linked to it, you could use Drudge's headline. But it's hard to search FR for a story that doesn't have any headline. Besides, this one deserves a lot of exposure.

You're such a knee-jerk thinker. LOL!! You're the one digging yourself a hole here, if it turns out you've been had.
It may very well be just coincidental that Parlock's had run-ins on THREE separate occasions at Democrat rallies, and all THREE times got his name and picture in the paper. But, there's enough smoke here to wait to make a final judgment.

The way IUPAT's been getting Freeped and the way this story has made it to the major media, if the thug wasn't a member I would expect they would have said something by now. It's ridiculous to take some DUmmy's wild speculation as if it has any credibility.

I think Attaturk is FOS. It's like a Daily KOS rag.
I saw the family pics. I don't see the resembalance.
It'll also take a Pefect Storm to set that up. The photographer has to be there. The kid has to be a union member, and possibly a union rep - of the most thuggish ones around (IUPAT). He has to be allowed to get front row as well. They all have to be together. The sign must be snuck in, etc etc.
I don't buy it.

I just think all we have at this point is that Parlock has done it before and some anonymous poster on a leftist blog thinks the union guy looks like his son.
I may be wrong, too, but you have to understand that Huntington is a small city with a small town atmosphere and the Parlocks are a fairly well-known family and Phil Parlock is fairly well-known and the airport in question is a TINY TINY airport and if Phil Parlock thought he was going to let his son impersonate a union thug in WV, in broad daylight, with photographers around, he would be stupider even than you already might think he is.
It MIGHT be true, but it is implausible.
This is not NYC. People know who you are around here.

Welcome to FR. As you can see, there is natural skepticism when someone new posts claiming to know someone recently in the news. Folks have tried that before and been found to be frauds. That said, I'll take you at face value until proven otherwise.
We've had a (fortunately) few incidents of Democrats and union thugs ganging up and assaulting women and children in D.C. It's ugly. Grown men and women should be ashamed to act that way, but these folks have no shame. Your dad ought to keep the youngsters away from Democrat crowds until they're old enough to defend themselves. It's sad it's like that, but some of the 'Rats have no standards of civilized behavior.

Michigan hat? Michigan shirt? No. It's not Michigan. MARSHALL maybe, and that doesn't mean anything. It's the local team in Huntington. It'd be like U-M in Ann Arbor, MSU in East Lansing, Western MI in Kalamazoo, etc.

It's a free country and all, but the wisdom of taking a three-year old to what would obviously be an opposition political event and especially with the deliberate intent to involve the three-year old should be questioned.

It is just typical Goon stuff. You would think that some sort of shame would prevent even one of these throwback thugs from assaulting a little girl.
I have known persons of this temperament for many years and I revile them. Every once in a while instances of this sort are made public. It happens a lot because there are certain sorts of people who are not intelligent enough to understand the significance of such actions. The only thing that they have is intimidation tactics, and a shriveling membership.
Do not expect to see liberal politicians condemning this type of thing. During the Mass. Senate race in 1994 when Mitt Romney was debating Ted Kennedy at Fanueil Hall certain Teamsters were quite violent with the minority of Romney supporters who were also there.
The irony of that occurring at Fanueil Hall was astounding. Still the liberal media in Boston barely reported it. Of course Kennedy had no criticism for his base. Liberals believe in violence unless it is used against our enemies. They are simply convoluted in their logic and I use the term logic loosely.
