WBNS-10TV has received many calls and e-mails regarding the Dan Rather story on President Bushs National Guard service and memos used in that story.
WBNS-10TV is an affiliate of CBS. However, we were not involved in the production or investigation of this report by CBS News.
WBNS has forwarded every viewer comment received by us to CBS News and have spoken with our contacts about the number of calls and the general message of displeasure that so many of our viewers have conveyed.
CBS News has given us two e-mail addresses you can use to contact CBS News directly:
CBS Audience Services: audsvcs@cbs.com
60 Minutes: 60II@cbsnews.com
You may also go to their website at www.cbs.com and click on the word Feedback.
Some viewers have asked us to take Dan Rather off the air. This is not a decision for us to make. Mr. Rather is an employee of CBS Inc., not WBNS. Additionally, WBNS has no other option than to air the CBS Evening News and 60 Minutes as per our network affiliation contract with CBS.
The staff and management of WBNS-10TV respect your opinions and will proudly represent central Ohio to CBS. Your viewing is very important to us. Regardless of your opinion about CBS News, we hope that you will continue to watch, and trust, 10TV Eyewitness News. In the meantime, we will continue to represent central Ohio proudly to our network and make sure your concerns are heard.
If you would like to give your feedback to WBNS-10TV, you can do so by e-mailing: viewerservices@10tv.com.
An interesting dig at network news!
I thik it means they can't show another news show instead..but, liek the station did in Jouston..they can put it on at 2 in the morning..
My guess is that the two seeBS email addresses provided lead directly to the magic cylinder...
A contract that requires you to be a party to perpetrating fraud and forgery is unenforcible.
Damn right the affiliates are pissed. Their ad rates are based on ratings, and Rather is killing their evening ratings. Per the affiliate contract, they can't do a thing about it.
However, by being an affiliate, they are responsible for helping to fund that report by CBS news.
They need to be told that they must contact CBS and insist Danny-Boy be punished. Unless they also complain to CBS (insetad of just spinelessly passing on comments) the affiliates are also complicit!
Want it both ways, don't they?
They are happy to be associated with CBS when they can bathe in the reflected "prestige" but once the Parent company becomes a leper, they claim no association but notice they don't break their ties.
They've laid down with dogs and now they have flees.
don't fall for the contact cbs directly. do both. contact the affiliates and cbs. cbs probably has set up a black hole email address so be sure to stay after the affiliates.
Chairman Michael K. Powell: Michael.Powell@fcc.gov
Commissioner Kathleen Q. Abernathy: Kathleen.Abernathy@fcc.gov
Commissioner Michael J. Copps: Michael.Copps@fcc.gov
Commissioner Kevin J. Martin: KJMWEB@fcc.gov
Commissioner Jonathan S. Adelstein: Jonathan.Adelstein@fcc.gov
...oh...that's from the FCC contact page...
Answer: Terminate the contract now. Or I:
1. Obtain a list of your advertisers
2. Tell themn why I am tuning out
3. Tune out. Forever.
(This would not be an honest answer for me. I've turned the teeeveee on, oh, maybe three times this year to watch anything other than videos...)
Dan Rather Among Speakers Slated for Oct. 4 Awards Dinner (NY FReepers Mark Your Calendars)
FAKE......BUT ACCURATE.
Maybe the station could do voiceovers and funny sounds when he is speaking.
That is passing the buck for them to just pass messages along to the the black hole at CBS central and wasdh their hands of it. The local affiliates aired a fruad based program and they ARE responsible for its content.
Somebody tell Dan falsifying documents is a crime.
WBNS is owned by the same family who owns the Columbus Disptach.
The Dispatch took a decided turn to the left after the family patriarch died and the looneys inhereted the stock.
Channel xx and its advertisors are not responsible for the editorial content of this program. To express your views contact 60II@cbs.com or call 212-whatever.
If they all did that, CBS would have to deal with it.
