A woman wearing a T-shirt with the words "President Bush You Killed My Son" and a picture of a soldier killed in Iraq was detained Thursday after she interrupted a campaign speech by First lady Laura Bush.

Police escorted Sue Niederer of Hopewell, N.J., from a rally at a firehouse after she demanded to know why her son, Army 1st Lt. Seth Dvorin, 24, was killed in Iraq. Dvorin died in February while trying to disarm a bomb.

She had every right in the world to be there and wear whatever shirt she wanted to.

I served in the military for 9+ years to defend that right.

Whether or not you agree with her is another of those rights.

As a mother, my heart breaks for her. BUT, we live in times where increasingly it's popular to be a victim, to wear it on your sleeve. Private, personal matters are too often played out in public, loss of dignity.

Note the difference in names between mother and son. She's Niederer and he's Dvorin.

This is a common element of this particular kind of wacko left rant, where the son or daughter serves honorably in a just cause but the parent- just the one- tries to crap on their service and their cause. The other parent is never consulted for an opinion.

I salute Lt. Dvorin and I honor his service and sacrifice. To his mother, I give an erect middle finger.....

What do their last names have to do with anything? You are way off base. What is bad is that she is dishonoring him.

Disgracing the memory of her son sacrifice by turning it into a political stunt.

The loss of a child, at any age, is devastating, so I'm gonna give her a pass. She's probably doing this more out of misguided grief than politics, but I'm sure her political base was opposed to the war in any event.

McAuliffe might have been defered because he was 13 when the war ended. Lehane was 4.

You forgot Harkin - he claimed he served in Vietnam - he was actually in Japan.

Ma'am, it is tragic that your son, a volunteer, died in the line of duty. All of us grieve with you, and we all honor his sacrifice. In case you hadn't noticed, 3000 innocents died in NY on Sept 11th, 2001 due to terrorism. And Iraq, like it or not, supported this terrorism, directly and indirectly. And you son bravely went in to do his duty, and sadly, died in performance of his duty.

Some info since we've heard this lady before...over and over.... See this

CodePink is/was heavily involved in being the "handler" for Sue Niederer, a New Jersey mom who lost a son in Iraq and now is being paraded around for the media like a prize pony. During the "Death March" from Dover AFB, to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and to the White House, CodePink was Niederer's media handler. I saw it persoanlly at Dover AFB and others saw it at the White House.

During the NYC "peace march", she was photographed by the NY Daily News and winds up on page three of the Sunday paper holding a "Bush Killed My Son" sign. Guess who's right by her side, her CodePink handler, Medea Benjamin. In addition to founding "CodePink", she founded Global Exchange (www.glogalexchange.org), lived in Cuba, married a Cuban, worked for Castro's State run newspaper and is the author of a book, "CUBA: Talking About Revolution". In that book, she describes Castro's Cuba as "having died and gone to heaven." So are we talking about a revolutionary or a peace activist?

Considering that she was one of the leaders of the Seattle riots and said of it "Seattle was a battle cry..." what do you think? Do peace activists need a battle cry?

CodePink, Global Exchange, the same basic people form group after group depending on the cause of the moment, but there's one common aspect, they pick a side AGAINST America. Back in 1985, four UNARMED US Marines assigned to guard the US Embassy in San Salvador were ruthlessly gunned down by rebels as the sat UNARMED in civilian clothes having a meal in a cafe. To kill those four UNARMED Marines, the seven rebels used assault weapons to strafe the cafe, also killing two WANG Computer employees and nine local people. Less than two months later, the rebel leader Nidia Diaz needed a doctor to treat her combat wounds.

A group called "Medical Aid To (For?) El Salvador" put out a press release because they were so proud that they arranged for a doctor from LA to go to El Salvador to treat the rebel leader who ordered the attack that killed four UNARMED US Marines. The spokesperson for "Medical Aid To (For?) El Salvador" was Sandra Brim according to the Associated Press reports. CodePink has a Sandra Brim as their spokesperson.

A change of heart or the realiztion that the public despises those that hurt and kill our military folks and feels sympathy for the families left behind? Do you think they have changed their goals?

Sorry, this woman is working with the folks who root for more dead soldiers and will work tirelessly to exploit their deaths for the enemy's benefit.

------------------------------------------------------------

This line struck me as the funniest. Obviously he must have a different last name than she does, but it still sounds funny putting this in.

Not uncommon, I'd chalk it up to my belief that liberals' casual morality leads to more disfunctional (i.e., divorced) families.

Sue Niederer had a ugly divorce from her son's father. After CodePinko got involved, she started using her former married name because it matches her son's last name. CodePinko is media savy and I'd bet my favorite body part or parts that it was CodePinko's advice to go by her son's name (Dvorkin) when interviewed by the press. It helps make the relationship seem closer, generating more sympathy. Totally avoids any question of how close were they after the divorce.

CodePinko knows that the public feels great sympathy for those who died to protect us. It's more profitable for them to tap that sympathy than to help kill soldiers like they did in the 80s. It's easier and political pressure has worked (Vietnam, Beruit, Somolia) where just killing soldiers hasn't worked for them (El Salvador).

The hardest thing for a parent to do is let go....

Whether it is the child growing up or dying.

Sounds like she didn't do one and can't do the other.

This woman has, and will always have my sympathy. She has given as much as can ever be given on this earth and I wish her some comfort some day. Obviously, Bush is not to blame, Al Qaeda is to blame, but to lose a child would make me more grief-stricken than I can imagine.

I wish her peace

don't forget Kerry's pal from Sandinista days, Iowa Sen. Harkin- claimed he was a Vietnam vet, then when cought on that claimed he'd been flying over Cuba, then when he got caught on that it turns out he was flying cargo in Japan. Why didn't he just stick with the truth?

'President Bush You Killed My Son'

Wow. I didn't even know Bush was in Iraq when her son died (/s)

This woman has more axes to grind than just the death of her son. It is utterly dispicable that she would use her son's ultimate sacrifice to his country to lambast Bush and stage a cheap political stunt like this.

OK, I have to ask the obligatory question??

Is it true, did she lose a son? If so, my heart goes out to her and can almost understand a grief stricken mother lashing out at authority.

But, but, who has confirmed the story??
