- I'm almost certain they weren't because the freepers went over everything connected with this story with a fine tooth comb within the first 48 hours after it first aired that such a number would have been traced and reported here within the day.

If there's one thing I've found to be absolutely true its that don't explain anything away by skill that can also be easily explained by stupidity.

SO true. I wish I had a penny for every hour I overthunk something and its cause turned out to be sheer dumb luck or a by a sheer dumb @ss.

I'm sorry, but it's early, and thus, I'm not working on all cylinders, please help me out by answering these questions.
1. If it's Abilene, does that tell us Burkette did it, or can we tie Robin Rather to it?

2. Let us say for the sake of saying that we have either of them on tape or some other way of tying them to it. Then what does that give us? Does that give someone the probable cause to get them for peddling fake USG docs?

As I said, this is my day off, and I am groggy, so please take pity on a middle aged pajama journalist.

Why isn't Sheila Jackson Lee a major player in all of this? Where is the Democrats' commitment to diversity?

This story has been around ever since W entered public life. Most people have no trouble believing that powerful people get favors, the fact that this story has been pursued for something like 15 years, and the only documentation that CBS can produce is:

1. Ben Barnes, who has barely stayed out of jail, is a partisan Democrat, and has taken part in fund-raisers making over $100,000 for Kerry.
2. Documents that are obviously forgeries.
3. An 86 year old pool secretary who admits that the documents CBS is using are forgeries and is a partisan Democrat.
4. An ill, irrational man who hates George Bush for an unrelated reason.

What's even more amazing is that they're continuing to pursue this story, which is a loser for Kerry and all the Democrats on all fronts. Even if every allegation were proven true, so what? They're blowing September saying "we hate Bush because he skipped some guard meetings." Rather has become Ahab, and the CBS news division is close to becoming an Alzheimer's ward.
