~10:41pm~ EST JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH ABILENE KINKOS: Bill Burkett has a standing account with the Kinkos in Abilene Texas, and while the lady who answered the phone would not be more specific she did say Burkett was in there last week - she waited on him on last (a week ago) Tuesday....

Dan is a partisan hack. He's probably mad he didn't get to interview Kitty Kelley first. So instead of reporting the news, he goes out and creates it.

I don't get how anyone can even ponder whether this most helps Bush or Kerry.
As far as the generic sheeple drones know- Dan Rather and CBS were so wooled up to nail Bush that they made schmidt up out of thin air.
CBS, Dan, and Kerry lose. Bush rides the wave to four more years.

Burkett is looney toons. I hope Secret Service keeps close eye on him.
Maybe they were, and that was one reason the campaign was so quiet in responding: they knew the source?

Does it make sense that 25 year old TANG personnel records would be held locally?
There have been posts that ANG records are kept in Denver.

Hope he doesn't give us a bad name. Randall "Tex" Cobb gave us a good name.
That victory set Randy up for his shot at immortality. A crack at Larry Holmes? heavyweight title one year later. On November 26, 1982 in Houston, Holmes gave Cobb an unmerciful battering for fifteen lopsided rounds. Still Tex never went down and his fighting spirit refused to quit. Ringside announcer Howard Cosell thought this bout to be so brutal that he walked away from pro boxing. Whether or not Cosell?s departure was for good or bad for boxing is debatable but Tex always took pride in himself for being the reason Howard left.

I have a simple question that maybe someone with knowledge can answer for me. How would a secretary know specific language that was Army vs. Air Guard? Did she type for everyone?
If she made mistakes and was corrected, she might remember. Then when new typists came on board, she'd pass on the proper usage to them?

I suspect you are very right. Very wise of them, too. Not sure if the source is Burkett, but I betcha the Bush folks know WHO.

A crazy vet; the media will write it off as a crazy lone veteran acting on his own. We've gotta dig deeper....

IMHO, no way Burkett alone is the source of the memos. He was the designated third party stooge who was insurance in case things went south. These memos had their origination in the periphery of the Kerry campaign, and were passed through Barnes / Burkett to Robin Rather, then on to Dan. If Burkett was the source they would have fingered him sooner. Why risk the damage to CBS reputation if the source is a disgruntled guy who has had several nervous breakdowns. Why the delay in setting up Burkett, as is apparently happening now is puzzling though. Maybe there were some financial negotiations to be settled first.

One other thing, IMHO Kerry himself authorized these memos, though it may never be conclusively proven.
