Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."
Translated: Hey, maybe we have enough credibility left that if we say we are investigating, this will just blow over and people will forget about it. But, while we are waiting for the results of our investigation, lets talk about the content of the memos.
we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing
Translation: Hopefully this memo stuff will go away now. In the meantime, we'll be going after Bush.
In other words: "We demand President answer these bogus charges!"
"We, the all-powerful CBS, SPIT on you, little people! WE are going to decide what is the truth. We are going to do whatever we want. Your opinion does not matter. Shut up and get in line for the next brainwashing session!"
Translation: We need more time to ply that 86 year old secretary with food and wine at the 21 Club. Tickets to Letterman and a night at the Pierre should secure her testimony
Can't wait to see how Dan looks tonight! I'll bet he'll be hoarse again from screaming all day!
We need a fresh thread for the CBS Evening News!
No. It took them ONE WEEK.
Bush is the moron in all this right?
He is the guy who is not very bright?
Meanwhile, Rather is now talking to the secretary -- let's see if he is able to get her to say what he needs -- and puts her on the show tonight.
---
she has already contradicted her self once saying that she knew "nothing" about the documents, now says that she is aware of some sort of similar docs. (its all screwy) not to mention is a walking bulliten board for DNC talking points.
i still gotta believe that its that burkett and barnes guys working with the kerry campaign.
The guy who wrote them is dead. The women who should've typed them didn't, but says there are no such memos.
Who could they be talking to???
off topic... Peach I have been ranting what you have in your tag line, since Clinton left office and pardoned that crowd at the end, and no one believes me...
>>>The Clinton's pardoned more terrorists than they ever captured or killed<<<
let's make sure I have this right. if you can't find anything on a guy, it's ok to make up stuff and then use that as a pretext for demanding someone answer a question.
"Translation: We need more time to forge more documents."
. . . and our witnesses (sponsored by DNC) need more time to rehearse their lines.
And it's no different than what Dan Rather said last Friday night.
Heyward, Rather and most of the CBS news staff will end up before congress and/or the FCC to answer questions. When they refuse to reveal sources, the case will end up before the Suprreme Court. Either that or the FCC will revoke their licenses. CBS should read the Red Lion Pa Case. That case went to the Supreme court and the licensee lost. That I think the Red Lion case was a Warren court era decision. CBS is playing with dynamite.
If CBS's loses that case and it is likley they will, Viacom may have no choice but to divest themselves of CBS and the CBS O&O stations. The media could lose its right in many cases to keep sources secret. THis is a huge gamble.
This statment makes zero legal sence. It is a man refusing to listen to his lawyers or a client so guilty that giving in even a little bit means certain disaster.
So C BS are going to try to pull off a magic trick and transform the story.
Next step: Congressional hearings. If Rather/CBS/Kerry continue playing it this way, Kerry will not win a single electoral vote. Advice to CBS from Karl Rove: Keep stonewalling. Keep up the good work! Bwahahahahahhahaah!
Aren't you all glad you're not as stupid as Heyward assumes you are? |
Fer Cryin' Out Loud! I'd sure hate to see this Andrew Hayward work as a carpenter:
"I just don't get it. I keep sawing a little bit off this two-by-four, and keep sawing, and keep sawing, but the darn thing is still too short!" *scratches his pointy head*
