Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."
Heeeellllooooooo. This is a plot that involved the DNC/the Kerry Kamp/CBS. By definition Clinton is involved.
ahhh nuance
Quick turn on CBS, they are addressing the memos next. NOt the statement though it seems.
Juan: "The fonts were there..."
Brit: "Wait. You're a journalist. Is "could" good enough?"
Juan (deer in headlights look): "Yada yada yada."
Mort: "It looks like they've been had."
Brit: "Once a controversy arises, is it the network's obligation to report both sides, or only their side?"
Krauthammer: "Allegations are growing and exploding... It's disgraceful. They haven't admitted that there's any credibility to the argument on the other side."
Mort: "What they ought to be doing is... answer it."
Brit: "What does this do to the Democrats who have used this to say that 'Bush lied.'"
Juan: "Ben Barnes said he used his influence to..."
Brit: "That's old."
Krauthammer: "The news is that his daughter called him a liar."
Mort: "The net effect of this is that the attempt to hammer Bush on this has fallen apart."
BS. It's piling higher and deeper.....
I have no doubt he's telling the truth. CBS has answered nothing in a satisfactory manner. I expect them to answer twice as much tomorrow (2x0=0).

.
BTW I have established to MY satisfaction that the picture of Andrew Heyward shown above is "accurate" or I would not have posted it here on Free Republic.
Sounds good.
Can't they even spell "corroborating" correctly? Did Marian Carr Knox write this? They must not have F7 keys on her Olympia
Certainly in the best Clintonian tradition. According to CBS's doublespeak, the memos are accurate but not authentic.
LOL
Send it to kerryspot.com - you could become famous!
Just before Limbaugh went off the air he commented on their stalling. But that was when the announcement was due at 3:30! Can't wait to hear him excoriate CBS tomorrow.
Cancel my rhumba lessons tomorrow; I'm listenin' to Rush!
LOL!!
They should replace it with a Ron Popeil infomercial. More useful information, more accurate content, and less brazen grandstanding.
CBS is SO SCREWED.
They're cooked.
bttt
Translation: Somehow, we "know better than you" about all this stuff, so shut up!
"There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know."
Translation: Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, we know what we are doing and we are smarter than you, so shut up!
"Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."
Translation: If you pajama clad weasels get us in trouble, this "Rather" convoluted double-talk is our "get out of jail free" card, so shut up!
Lesson: There are more than just Hippopotami and Crocodiles up to their eyeballs in "de-nile" on this Wednesday evening.
I thought it was selectric
