Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."

Just something to keep in mind. (I could also post Sumner Redstone's recent donations, but that might chew up a lot of bandwidth posting all of those liberal and Democrat names!)
He said he'd like to walk away with what is left of his credibility and spare himself a congressional investigation.
Delay, delay, delay ................. This is a bad joke. I'm going to climb into my pJ's.
Clearly CBS is listening the team of CBS lawyers. Their is no doubt in mind the lawyers are tellling them to say:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television."
The lawyers will never let them admit actual malice. In addition, the lawyers have told the to document additonal investigation before making any retraction.
*** Rememeber: Actual Malice is publishing a false statement knowingly or with a RECKLESS DISREGARD FOR THE TRUTH!! Is the any doubt that is what they have done?
Really now, accurate vs. authentic comes nowhere close to the classic "is".
They apparently don't think we learned how to parse along with the clinton Administration.
Wrong answer CBS. America has the right to know and congress has the duty to investigate.
Took them all day to get out the statement with "corroborating" misspelled. Jeesh!
Wonder what that cost them!
Probably only had about 20 suits sitting around the conference room. Guess their spell check is broken.
Rather note to self: Order that Olympia typewriter on Ebay.
The evening news is watched by those 55 and older. Their customer base is shrinking along with their influence.
Rather is such a windbag.
I can't wait to see if Letterman has some snide comment about the brouhaha on his show. That REALLY ought to liven up his talks with Les Moonves!! LOL
Just as I thought, too.
After all, I have deduced CBS has entered into a scheme with the DNC to perpetrate this fraud and I expected no less than them sticking by their story.
Congressional hearings.
Carl Rove is Buckhead.
;-)
GOOD GOD!!! shes one ugly woman
If they do that though, they create someone with a strong desire to blab. Wonder how many CYA files have been created since all of this broke?

Services requested. Report for duty...
As I understand it, forging a document is no longer "wrongdoing" so long as the information contained in them is "accurate".
From now on, if someone asks you for your driver's license, you can just hand them a napkin with your name and address handwritten on it. "But officer! The information is essentially the same as that contained on my actual driver's license!"
You missed to INFLUENCE AN ELECTION
Anyone have any thoughts on why CBS has consistently the best programming prime-time ratings but the worst news ratings?
Dan Rather's Evening News has been in the toilet for something like 11 years now.
