so MSNBC just reported
""CBS President says they are redoubling their efforts to certify docs!!!!""
So instead of putting 1% of their effort to certify them they will put 2%? Yippee....
Sounds to me like there was big disagreement and contentious debate within CBS and because it is still ongoing and they couldn't resolve it they just gave this statement because they had said they would give a statement....
Yes, she was. Bad luck for Bush. We will just have to see how credible she is, but Dan et al. are probably spending a considerable amount of time coaching her. Dan et al. want to get at Bush, and they want it bad.
SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS (see last graf):
"These are not real," she told The Dallas Morning News after examining copies of the disputed memos for the first time. "They're not what I typed, and I would have typed them for him."
Knox, 86, who spoke with precise recollection about dates, people and events, said, "I remember very vividly when Bush was there and all the yak-yak that was going on about it."
She added that she does not support Bush as president, deeming him "unfit for office" and "selected, not elected."
Remember, Dan's theoretically supposed to anchor tonight's episode of 60 Minutes II (or whatever they're calling it nowadays) at 8:00 EST. The very show the whole controversy originated on, one week ago tonight! They'll be expected to follow up.
Wonder if we'll ever know what's going on in there all afternoon? Wonder if the cleaning crew is good at getting out bloodstains?
Probably old news by now, but if not....
Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."

you thought it was a joke and so you laughed -- you laughed! --
when i had said that losing you would make me flip my lid. right?
you know you laughed, i heard you laugh
you laughed, you laughed, you left
and now you know i'm utterly mad.
Well now, that's a first rate source if there ever was one.
interesting speculation ping
How could she finger Bush, she said she didn't know any of the specifics of Bush's service, only that favors were granted and people didn't like it? The old lady knows NOTHING, she even admitted it.
I agree...but consider this.
In order to save Rather (and Kerry as well), this is gonna fly well with a certain idiot quota of the population who hasn't made up their mind yet.
Picture this:
Thelma: Gosh Harry, this old woman seems so sweet and sincere about George Bush. I guess we have to believe her and Dan Rather are telling the truth
Harry: Yes Thelma, I absolutely agree. George Bush may not be the right choice for us. After all, Dan Rather has backed up all of his statements with a credible witness.
