The Navy gave the database to the veterans' groups, and sends them updates. This is a win-win, because a lot of the wannabees bring negative publicity on the service -- they all have an atrocity story. This way, the Navy gets the benefit of having thee scrotes debunked without having to do it.
There are some phony vets' orgs out there (the "American War Library" in all its permutations is one). But veriseal and authentiseal are the real seal deal, and what they do they do with the full blessing of the Navy. Same deal with the training records the US Army has shared with the Special Forces Association.

Aye aye, sir!
This rating is like an MP in the Army, or like a permanent Shore Patrol billet.

Off topic but this may be the place to ask.
I have always heard that Mr. Rogers was a SEAL.
Can anyone confirm or deny?
BTW--I loved Mr. Rogers & am so glad he was around for my kids. His show even kept the hyper one's attention.
Ironically they were called FROG MEN back then.... LOL
It figures a fake war hero would support Kerry.
Wow! Good searching!
Bump!
There are 24 "majied's" listed in the phone book in Albany, Ga, including even 2 "Jihad" (!!) Majieds, but no "Ahmad", though there is a "El A. Majied"
Sound like a bunch of camel-jockeys to me.
Urban legend, it seems. From Snopes.com:
<snip> On another note, there was this wimpy little man (who just passed away) on PBS, gentle and quiet. Mr. Rogers is another of those you would least suspect of being anything but what he now portrays to our youth. But Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Navy Seal, combat proven in Vietnam with over twenty-five confirmed kills to his name. He wore a long sleeve sweater to cover the many tattoo's on his forearm and biceps. A master in small arms and hand-to-hand combat, able to disarm or kill in a heartbeat. He hid that away and won our hearts with his quiet wit and charm. America's real heroes don't flaunt what they did, they quietly go about their day to day lives, doing what they do best. They earned our respect and the freedoms that we all enjoy. Look around and see if you can find one of those heroes in your midst. Often, they are the ones you'd least suspect, but would most like to have on your side if anything ever happened.
Numerous rumors about children's host Mr. Rogers having a violent or criminal past have been bandied about for years, but there is nothing to any of them. As our Mr. Rogers page explains, Fred Rogers never served in the military.
