And incidentally what about the Military vote. Is he as concerned that the absentee ballots might end up in the trash again?

"Disenfranchised voter" argument already in play. Trying to inspire and enrage the Jesse Jackson crowd even though they can't stand Kerry. Or Edwards.

There is so much wrong with this.. first and foremost, ASSuming that the African American vote will continue to automatically go to the dems. I believe that community is starting to wake up to how they have been used by the DNC over the years.
Second, you know he is getting desperate when they pull this card out of the deck.
Third, I wonder how much they will complain about their own party suppressing the military vote... and on and on and on...

I saw a clip from this speech. It was the republicans did it in 2000, and they'll do it again this year. Sickening how wealthy, educated people can believe that crap.

As with most things liberal, the opposite is true. The amoralist Demorats can't comprehend that anyone would not try and stop voters who are against them.

Bush should capitalize off these irrational statements of Kerry's.

Just make a long list of them, laughingly repeat them and frame the guy for the idiot he is.

The Kerry camp is going down for the third time. Implossion iminent. Stand back...

I agree with Jesse Jackson on this one. If anyone supresses the black vote this time around it will be Kerry and his vanilla shake campaign.

"We are not going to stand by and allow acts of voter suppression, and we're hearing those things again in this election."

What an outrageous statement !

What Kerry meant: "I think black people are stupid. If I tell you that a million black votes went uncounted in 2000, you people are dumb enough to believe me. And if I tell you that the Republicans plan to do it again, I bet your eyes will get all bugged-out like in the movies. At least, that's what Theresa told me would happen. I don't actually know any black folks, so I'm just going on what she says. She was born in Africa, you know -- and she tells me that you people are dumb as a sack of hammers."

Why doesn't he just say that he supports a completely free and fair election rather than single out the votes of African Americans as needing protection? Because he fears losing a free and fair election so he only cares about protecting votes from a particular racial/ethnic group that he assumes will go to him. What next? Kerry will promise to protect gay votes or Jewish votes?
It's paternalistic and offensive, as usual.

"We are not going to stand by and allow another million African American votes to go uncounted in this election,"

Did any - any - member of the media call him on this little factoid?

There are two chance of that; Slim and None - and Slim is HIV positive.

Wow - we've gone from "disenfranchising" right up to "preventing" already.

Since BUSH is such powerful force, he should have no problem sweeping the election right out from under his opponent. (/refusing to type the name).

(/smiling from ear to ear that it's a shoe in that W will be re-elected.....YEAHHHH!!!)

"We are not going to stand by and allow another million African American votes to go uncounted in this election," the Democratic presidential nominee told the Congressional Black Caucus.

The fact that he has the nerve to actually say this out loud shows just how desperate he really is at this point. Even the blatantly biased Civil Rights Commission, run by that gem of a gal Mary Frances Berry, came up with NADA on disenfranchised black FL voters. What a joke.

If Kerry is so concerned about the value of one's vote why isn't he concerned about the 46,000 New Yorkers who are also registered to vote in Florida?

Republicans don't suppress votes. That's old hat politics. Maybe he should send his "proof" of "Republicans suppressing the black vote" to Dan Rather.

It's easier to accuse Bush of denying blacks the right to vote than to explain why in the world a black would have reason to vote for Kerry.

It's comical to see Kerry in black churches.

Blacks turning out en masse to vote for Kerry gives new meaning to "black sheep."

The president raised a serious question to black voters and that is what exactly have the democrats done lately to help them.

The answer is nothing. The Dems rely on old Democratic values to support blacks... but the progressive dems have long since left those important values behind. Just talk to ZELL... There is a huge negative difference in the democratic party of 20 years ago and the party today.
