Snip from article linked Here:
"Though Dr. Ingrid Mattson appears moderate, she is insidious precisely because she maintains that façade while steadfastly refusing to criticize radical Islamists, claiming that there is no such thing as Wahhabism and that the term "Islamic terrorism" should not be used in the media. Most shocking of all, though, is how little concern she expressed about suicide bombings in an essay she wrote shortly after 9/11.
At a CNN-sponsored "town hall" forum in October 2001, Mattson with a straight face claimed that the radical, Saudi-sponsored form of Islam known as Wahhabism was akin to the Protestant movement in Christianity. Wahhabism "really was analogous to the European protestant reformation," she explained."

"Chechen rebel claims Beslan siege"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Shamil Basayev has a $10m bounty on his head
Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev has said he organised the Russian school siege in which at least 320 hostages were killed, many of them children.
In a letter published by leading rebel websites, he said a suicide battalion had carried out the Beslan attack.
The letter also claimed bomb attacks on two Russian airliners and a Moscow metro station this summer.
Russia is offering $10m for the capture of Mr Basayev, whose reported actions a US official described as "inhuman"."

"Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev claims responsibility for recent terrorist attacks in Russia"
09/17/2004 11:43
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "According to Basayev, the attack in Beslan cost him 8,000 euros
Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev claimed responsibility for explosions in Moscow, including the recent blast near the Rizhskaya metro station, the air crashes of the Tu-154 and Tu-134 airliners and the hostage crisis in Beslan, according to a Chechen terrorist website.
"The group Riyadus-Salikhin has conducted a series of successful operations on the territory of Russia. The explosions on the Kashirskoye Highway and near the Rizhskaya metro station were organized by the Moscow regional division of Shakhids. The two air crashes were organized by the special operations department. The operation Nord-West in the town of Beslan was carried out by the second battalion of Shakhids, under the command of Colonel Orstkhoev," a statement from Basayev runs.
It was Chechen terrorist Shamil Basayev, who set up the Islamic battalion of Shakhids, Riyadus-Salikhin. According to Russian special services, Basayev organized terrorist acts in Budennovsk in 1995 (when terrorists took hundreds hostage at a local hospital) and in Moscow in 2002 (the hostage crisis at the Moscow music theatre).
In the middle of July, Basayev announced that new operations were being prepared to cause serious damage to federal forces both militarily and politically."

Singapore warns of deadly illness
BBC ^ | 17 September, 2004
Posted on 09/17/2004 7:20:15 PM MDT by traumer
Authorities in Singapore have expressed concern about the rising death toll from the tropical disease melioidosis. Twenty-three of the 57 people diagnosed with the soil-born disease from January to July died, health officials said.
This pointed to a mortality rate of 47% - three times as much as with the deadly respiratory infection Sars.
The high death toll led officials to investigate whether Singapore may have been targeted by a biological warfare attack - but this was ruled out.
Melioidosis is listed by the US government as a potential bacteriological weapon.
No vaccine
The disease is most common in South-East Asia and northern Australia.
It is caused by bacteria that enter the body when contaminated dust is inhaled or when bruised skin comes into contact with contaminated soil.
The infection can spread from the skin through the blood to the heart, brain, liver, kidneys, joints, and eyes.
There is no vaccine for melioidosis. It can be treated with antibiotics if detected early.
Singapore has an annual average of 67 cases and 12 deaths from the disease. The authorities have given no reason for this year's rise.
During the Sars outbreak in Asia from late 2002 to mid-2003, Singapore recorded 33 deaths from the viral respiratory infection.

PUBLIC AWARENESS ADVISORY REGARDING "4-1-9" OR "ADVANCE FEE FRAUD" SCHEMES
4-1-9 Schemes frequently use the following tactics:
* An individual or company receives a letter or fax from an alleged "official" representing a foreign government or agency;
* An offer is made to transfer millions of dollars in "over invoiced contract" funds into your personal bank account;
* You are encouraged to travel overseas to complete the transaction;
* You are requested to provide blank company letterhead forms, banking account information, telephone/fax numbers;
* You receive numerous documents with official looking stamps, seals and logo testifying to the authenticity of the proposal;
* Eventually you must provide up-front or advance fees for various taxes, attorney fees, transaction fees or bribes;
* Other forms of 4-1-9 schemes include: c.o.d. of goods or services, real estate ventures, purchases of crude oil at reduced prices, beneficiary of a will, recipient of an award and paper currency conversion.
If you have already lost funds in pursuit of the above described scheme, please contact your local Secret Service field office.
