The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Muslim group takes responsibility for 9-11: 'We are so sorry'

This September 11 marks the third unforgettable anniversary of the worst mass murder in American history.

After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9-11 terrorist acts and that we have an enormous problem with extremism and support for terrorism. Many Muslims, including religious leaders, and "intellectuals" blamed 9-11 on a Jewish conspiracy and went as far as fabricating a tale that 4000 Jews did not show up for work in the World Trade Center on 9-11. Yet others blamed 9-11 on an American right wing conspiracy or the U.S. Government which allegedly wanted an excuse to invade Iraq and "steal" Iraqi oil.

I've had FNC on all day from 6:30am and they say the chatter and info is coming in at an 'alarming' rate Ridge doesn't quite know what to do

Say I'm driving, see a 'bright sky' but no plume etc, no noise, just the sky brightening, how close would the probable detonation be?

The religion of pieces worships a different God - one that these fanatics show and tell us has no mercy, no compassion and no love for their fellow man. I'd love nothing more than to see them getting with the religion of peace and becoming a peace loving people like a very small segment of their members claim they are. May God show them (despite their hatred and intolerance) the way to live in harmony with all mankind in the rest of the world.

Interesting because I just came on to send some info to Mfccinsd about fighter jets screaming over east county this afternoon around 1pm. I was just leaving the house to run some errands and heard them coming. I only counted 3 before they were out of sight heading east. It's unusual to see them flying out my way. Mfccinsd gets them more up in her area while I generally have the marine helicopters. I've not seen nor heard them come back yet.

Of course, they could just be out on a drill but as I said they don't as a rule come out this direction.

I feel they will strike in the very near future and it will be bad. But I do know my personal thougts earlier today is how stupid they truly are for no matter where they hit, they are underestimating the resolve of Americans and the polls will be flooded, even with those who may not have

Depends upon the yield of the weapon and time of day. Nevada night tests had the flash observed in Los Vegas. If it is noticable, go back to the 60's drill of drop immediately since you are probably close.

Take matters into our own hands (in a perfect world???). It sure as heck would be more efficient than the legal lawful way we operate now. Voting (for and against) judges and politicians is the most potent method of showing our disdain for what is wrong in this country and attempting to correct it.

Washington DC Conducts Mass Casualty Exercise

WASHINGTON (AP) - A bomb rips apart a sport utility vehicle as dozens of workers stream in and out of a busy downtown office building. The explosion rattles an entire city block, knocking people to the ground - killing some and leaving others injured.

That frightening mock scenario played out Thursday at an abandoned parking lot on the campus of St. Elizabeths Hospital in Southeast Washington, giving first responders in the nation's capital a chance to prepare for such an emergency in today's post-Sept. 11 world.

Within minutes of the ``blast,'' a half-dozen fire trucks and ambulances rushed to the scene, sirens blaring. After the smoke subsided, rescuers roped off the area, checking on ``victims'' and placing some on stretchers. All the while, a helicopter swirled above.

The drill was part of two days of field exercises in the city, which were to continue Friday at Catholic University of America. Hundreds of District of Columbia firefighters, police officers and other health workers are participating in the so-called ``mass casualty exercise.''

``This is probably the largest such drill we've had in the district to test our response,'' said Dr. Gregg A. Pane, acting director of the D.C. Department of Health. The city routinely conducts similar exercises - but on a smaller scale - to stay on alert, he said.

Although participants in Thursday's drill were just pretending, they were using some of the same equipment that would be needed had the situation been real - including gas masks, hazardous materials suits and bulky fire-protective gear.

Within 15 minutes of the mock explosion, a decontamination area was established a short distance away. A yellow tent was set up to assess the victims' injuries and provide first aid. Red tape also was unraveled, labeling the area a ``hot zone.''

Some victims treated Thursday's exercise as a game, laughing as they were escorted to safety.

Authorities said they planned to use the exercise to evaluate how well the city's various emergency response teams are able to communicate using scanners, pagers, and health alert networks. For instance, emergency medical technicians coordinated with staffers at area hospitals to juggle how many patients could be sent to each emergency room.

Mental health workers also were on hand to see how many counselors were needed to meet with rescuers.

``We learned after 9/11 and anthrax just how helpful mental health counseling can be,'' said Martha Knisley, director of the D.C. Department of Mental Health. She noted that many times, first responders aren't prepared to deal with what they've encountered.

Ok, jihadi sites. We need to sift out to see if the volume is due to the recent hostage be-headings or something else. Are coversations being more circumspect, cautious, etc.

Strikes in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania could cause mass casualties, and effect the election and ability of people to vote. While I think we all believe a strike would make the Country back Bush, a strike on the eve or early morning of the election will affect the reaction time and the time for millions to vote. Indeed, a huge strike would affect voters in many states, as people will be glued to TV, preoccupied with tracking loved ones, and unwilling to venture to places where there are crowds.

Certainly a bio/chem/radiological strike would have a huge effect on the place of the strike and the national mood. Five days before an election would allow us to focus, and still vote without distraction -- on the eve of an election, millions would be too occupied to vote.

Let's start thinking about major cities in swing states.
