Iran to sign up human shields for nuclear reactor
Sep 10, 2004, 22:44
Thousands of Iranians are expected to volunteer to act as human shields in case of a military attack on one of the country's key nuclear facilities, the group organising the effort said on Wednesday.
The volunteers would protect a nuclear reactor under construction with Russian help in the southern port city of Bushehr, said the Committee for the Commemoration of Martyrs of the Global Islamic Campaign.
"Thousands of Bushehr's people will sign up to protect the reactor," said a spokesman for the group.
He said the group, which has no links to any official organisation, had collected the names of 25,000 "martyrdom-seeking" volunteers across Iran since June. The ceremony was to be held on Thursday in Bushehr. (snipped)

FYI to all:
National Geographic Channel is now airing "Blinding Horizons" - - the topic of this documentary is al Qaeda's possible nuclear capability. Peter Bergen (the first American journalist to interview UBL)is narrating. Holy War Inc is scheduled to follow at 10pm EST/9PM CST. Both should replay starting at 12AM EST/11PM CST.
no problem here with Google...........
This method didn't work too good for Iraq.
Thanks JP.
I appreciate the feedback.
I have a majoir problem believing this one. I also doubt that the Paki "navy" has nuke subs. I could believe an old diesel model but not a nuke. And I seriously doubt there is anything that our systems can't track, especially from that part of the world.
South-east Asia militants back Chechnya cause
Jemaah Islamiah members are said to have connected with Chechen rebels at many levels - most of which spell terror
By Shefali Rekhi
MILITANTS in South-east Asia have identified themselves with armed separatists in Chechnya in a development counter-terrorism experts describe as 'chilling'.

Thanks for the FYI on the documentaries.
Terrorist camps in Balochistan
* Musharraf vows to remove terror tag
* Warns world wrath could cripple economy, liquidate N-capability
QUETTA: President General Pervez Musharraf has said that a nuclear rollback is out of the question for Pakistan, a country he said the entire Muslim ummah looks to for leadership in an increasingly anti-Muslim world.
He called notions of a nuclear rollback rumours and said: Wed rather develop it further to meet our future defence needs. He was addressing officers and soldiers at the Quetta Garrison on Saturday. He said terrorism had to be curbed to ensure national security and stability. Calling terrorism a threat from within, he urged the troops to be vigilant in defending the country on all fronts.
We dont just have to defend our country. We have to develop it with a vision. And no one else will do that for us. He claimed the government had successfully liquidated 90 percent of the terrorist network in Pakistan. More needs to be done to clear Pakistans name from the global list of potentially terrorism-generating states, he added.
He said the situation could be much worse if terrorists were to win this war. He said Pakistan had already lost a lot in terms of foreign investment because of poor security. He said he feared losing exports and getting sanctions that would cripple the economy.
The world could decide to bomb us if we were found guilty of supporting terrorism. We could even lose our nuclear capability if the world community was to lose confidence in us.
He spoke of fugitive camps in Balochistan where he claimed terrorists, involved in sectarian killings too, took shelter. He said the government was ready to crack down on those camps.
Speaking of enlightened moderation, the president recalled the two-pronged strategy he put before the Organisation of the Islamic Conference. On one hand is the need to rejuvenate Muslim nations through socio-economic development. And, on the other, determination has to be shown in negotiating for resolving the long-standing issues of the Muslim world, he said, referring to disputes such as Kashmir, Palestine and Chechnya. He said global peace was not possible without resolving these issues. (snipped)

Thanks for checking. Hmmmm.
If you put 25,000 members from the Committee for the Commemoration of Martyrs of the Global Islamic Campaign as human shields, it will just make the target more lucrative as it would increase the utility and efficiency of the missiles.

Pinging you to # 92.
I was on the other thread, and ran a computer model using the cloud diameter they described, and estimated the cloud angle at 70 degrees from ground observation.
