Cat Stevens & Al-Qaeda
In May 1999, Stevens/Islam was the keynote speaker at the “Second ‘United for Al-Quds Conference.’” Al-Quds is the Islamic name for Jerusalem. The conference was sponsored by the “Who’s Who” of America’s radical Muslim groups which support terror and refuse to denounce HAMAS and Hezbollah (which murdered over 300 American marines and civilians in the 1980s, while they slept).
One of the main sponsors of this conference was American Muslims for Global Peace and Justice. The group, which spearheads the Muslim boycott of Starbucks (because its CEO is Jewish), was founded and run by the late Mahboob Khan, who raised money for Al-Qaeda at the Santa Clara mosque he founded and headed. In the late ‘90s, Khan twice brought Al-Qaeda deputy Ayman Al-Zawahiri, himself, into the US on a fake passport, to raise the money at the mosque. (Incredibly, Khan’s son, Suhail Khan, is a Bush political appointee and chief legal counsel to the Federal Highway Administration, where he has access to transport schedules for major weaponry and hazardous materials.)
True to form, Stevens, in his keynote speech at the conference, entitled “Jerusalem: The First and Last Scene of Faith’s Struggle” (a speech about Jihad for Jerusalem), said the Jews “were lowered to abject levels of disgrace and dishonor.”

Instead, there’s a new country, called “Holyland” in its place. Click on the blank map on Cat Stevens’ personal website to reveal the hidden state names on his “revised” planet. Hmmmm . . . . Let me guess: the new Prime Minister of “Holyland” is name Abu-something or other. Stevens calls this “small kindness.”

In September 1999, Stevens delivered the five-time daily call to prayer at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) annual conference. At the event, he and NBA Star Tariq Abdul-Wahad attacked America’s freedoms.
Saudi-funded ISNA is at the forefront of promoting extremist Wahhabi Islam and owns and controls at least 27% of America’s mosques and many American Islamic schools through an ISNA subsidiary, the Islamic Trust. Stevens was invited for this honor by ISNA’s then-chief, Muzammil Siddiqi, a prominent, radical Muslim who openly supports martyrdom, jihad, and making the US a Muslim country. Siddiqi opposes Muslims serving in the U.S. military and used ISNA to raise money for HAMAS’ Political Director Marzook and the Islamic Jihad terrorist group.

I liked Cat Stevens at a young age only because I thought he was cute. I think Peace Train was one of the first few songs I learned in grade school music class (teacher liked all guitar folk songs...). At the time I learned Peace Train, of course I didn't know who Cat was, but in a few years I did. That's when I began thinking he (and a thousand other singers) was cute.
I was stunned to learn Cat was a muslim convert after I watched a tv program about him sometime shortly after 911.
Now, this article you posted, well, it is all very sad.
That first link on AQ training in the Philippines is awesome. To the right side of that linked page is a wonderful interactive menu on AQ. If anyone can figure out how to bring that one over (if it's even possible), it would be much appreciated.

Event: The verdict for the thugs who murdered Americans will be sentenced on September 29th.
Question: This falls close the the Sep. 27th date that has been discussed here before. Any input pls. (also, how to I put words in bold?)
I found the following article on the net this AM. It is from the Yemen Times so I am not sure how accurate it is.
The Penal Court concerned with crimes of terrorism decided to pass the verdict against the USS Cole suspects on September 29th, while the suspects still deny the accusations against them of involvementments in terrorist attacks, claiming they were subjected to torture.
In its last hearing, run last Wednesday, the court listened to closing arguments from both the prosecutors and the defense lawyers. The prosecutor Ali al-Samit demanded the conviction of the suspects and a heavy punishment for their involvement in the terrorist attack against the USS Cole destroyer on October 12th 2000, in the port of Aden. The prosecutor said the six suspects, one in US custody, were “engaged in an armed ring targeting the US destroyer and harming the national interests of the country, putting
Yemen as a target in the international war on terror.” He also asked for the confiscation of the seized materials.
For his part, the defense lawyer Abdulaziz al-Samawi refuted the accusations of the prosecution against his clients. He said that the prosecution exaggerated many things in the case. He also presented the evidence of a piece of news published in the armed forces paper 26 September Weekly, to prove that the first prime suspect Abdulraheem al-Nasheri is held in US custody, as the prosecution and court said earlier that they have not received official documents to prove that he has been arrested in the US. Al-Samawi expressed surprise at how a man can be simultaneously tried before two courts in two different countries.
He even went on to ask for the halt of the tribunal until al-Nasheri, whose extradition has been requested, is brought back to Yemen. “I am afraid that these suspects will be used as scapegoats because the prosecution has been unable to catch the real perpetrators,” he said.
Al-Samawi asked the court to acquit the five suspects he is defending, and stated that their dignity should be restored.
The suspects themselves, from behind the bar, denied the accusations of their involvement in the attack on the USS Cole, and claimed they surrendered to the authorities. The second suspect, Jamal al-Badwi, said that they do not recognize the prosecution. “We’d only recognize a legal judge,” he said, adding that throughout four years, the prosecution has failed to present any concrete proof against them. “All that has been stated as confessions made by us during the prosecution investigation is completely false.” The other suspects also denied allegations made by the prosecutor. Some of them acknowledged their travel to Afghanistan just for juristic preparation.
Al-Samawi expected that the suspects would be convicted but not in the way the prosecution wants.
The US government followed up the trial hearings from the beginning and a US official told the Yemen Times that his country is concerned that justice should be served in this case.
