Rather has chosen to brazen it out. What other choice did he really have? Oh, yeah, he could have opted for the truth, I guess...nah...

Well, Dan was less than compelling in his defense of the docs. BTW, why did their document expert remind of the guy who testified for the dems in the Flordia chad case ;)

I can't believe they admitted these were photocopies given to them.

Rather will not call Bush "President Bush." He always calls him "Mr.Bush."
He still calls Clinton "President Clinton."
My guess is he's suffering from the Al Gore disease. This will really send him over the edge. The only people saying the documents are real these days are Rathers "friends."
Remember when the 2000 Florida election was called for Gore? Rather said "It looks like our side is winning."
Suspicious Documents Went from DNC To Kerry Camp To CBS, Rather NOT a Victim

Try calling 1-212-975-4321 and ask to speak to Dan Rather... You'll get connected to some punk junior producer, but at least you'll get a chance to express your disdain for Mr. Rather and the great news gathering organization at CBS News.

Your link doesn't go to anything even remotely resembling your post. What is up?

Document and handwriting examiner Marcel Matley analyzed the documents for CBS News. He says he believes they are real. But he is concerned about exactly what is being examined by some of the people questioning the documents, because deterioration occurs each time a document is reproduced. And the documents being analyzed outside of CBS have been photocopied, faxed, scanned and downloaded, and are far removed from the documents CBS started with. I guess if they reproduce it often enough it will become a full confession by Bush that he was AWOL from the age of 3 to 33, that he was and is a slacker and he really doesn't deserve to be reelected.
Sounds like another 60 Minutes episode is being scripted.

Link to story above: (More Controversy Over Bush Docs)
This may have already been suggested in other posts, but I highly encourage people to send CBS a letter to express your displeasure. Thanks to FReepers, and other netizens, this story has taken on a life of its own. However, without continuous pressure CBS will try to weather the public's reaction and let the story die. (I know, they underestimate us at their peril. But, in reality, it WILL take more than posting here to force CBS to take responsibility, retract this story and apologize -- retiring Dan would be the icing on the cake).
Here is how you can participate. Click on the link above and go to the bottom of the page. Click on the "Contact us" link and leave a comment on their web based form. Also, please consider sending a snail mail complaint to CBSNews at CBSNews 524 W. 57th St. New York, NY, 10019.
I don't have their phone number, or I'd post that too.
Thanks!

Robert Strong was an administrative officer for the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam years. He knew Jerry Killian, the man credited with writing the documents. And paper work, like these documents, was Strong's specialty. He is standing by his judgment that the documents are real. Is that the beginning and the end of Strong's credentials? Is he part of this story simply because he was around the office at the time?
Who the hell is he? What does he do? And where is he coming from?
Is he, for example, a Travis County, Texas Democrat? Might he know Ben Barnes? And Bill Burkett?
