Focusing on the subscript and the typeface.
Rather exculpates himself...........with something like Rush always says.....It's not the charges themselves but the "seriesness" of the charges............B-A-R-F!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Handwriting expert claiming documents must be authentic. Guy says "we seek the truth". Uh-huh.

Document Examiner
On the morning of Septemeber 11, 2001, while the buildings were still burning in the background, Dan Rather told the world, "...We do not know who did this!"
I'm no genius, but even I was able to turn to my children and inform them: "That man is lying. Osama Bin Laden did this."
Dan Rather had zero credibility in my house from that day forward. In fact, he is considered an enemy sympathizer and a suspected traitor.
Jeepers...guess he just told us. NOT!!!!!!!!
This was a hit piece. "No definitive evidence" the story is wrong.
Dan Rather is a pathetic partisan, not a journalist.
lol... well that was laughable wasn't it? It leaves about 100 questions about the docs unanswered. Talk about a biased report!!
Rather basically concluded, if we are lying, you can't prove it.
He is sticking with his story that the docs are real.
He ignored that Gary Killiam, son, said the docs were questionable. Killiam was contacted my CBS before the 60 Minutes airing. Even Killiam's step mother said she doubted the documents, too.
And not bothering to show compared signatures or anything else.
He's daring ABC, CNN, the papers, the whole MSM to keep digging into it. He's giving them the excuse not to--"Oh, we have their explanation" and is telling them to SPIKE THE BALL. After all, who'll listen to nutbars on the Internet?
(So many holes in his report, I don't have the time....)
There are two polls on the subject on CNN.
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/
Should Dan Rather and CBS News reveal the sources of the Bush memos?
Yes 35% 282 votes
No 65% 519 votes
Total: 801 votes
AND
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/wolf.blitzer.reports/
Do you think the recently released memos on President Bush's National Guard service are authentic?
Yes 52% 65829 votes
No 48% 61920 votes
Total: 127749 votes
If you are so inclined, CNN needs a little FR power!
The only technical details addressed were 1) superscripting existed, and 2) New Times Roman existed. Killian's never-attacked signature was vigorously defended as if it could not have been lifted.
Best of all, you could tell he knew he was lying. You could see it in his eyes.
Fox covering cbs bs now
I just watched it. What a load of crap.
Very biased report.
CBS Evening News, where Dan Rather's office is based....this gets you to the newsroom:

Ask just what "investigation" went into authenticating the memos and whether they will offer an on-air retraction.
Demand they apologize for this EXTREME lapse of journalistic practice and basic skills.
Ask about:
1) font and signature differences with Bush enlistment records
2) Kerning setting of 13, which were definitely NOT POSSIBLE WITH TYPEWRITERS OF THE PERIOD.
3) How the doc refers to a retired man as somehow pressuring Killian.
The gist of the report was a whitewash:
1) interviewing one "expert" on handwriting
2) interviewing one guy from the Texas military
3) not addressing the fact that a memo claimed a retired guy was pressuring Killian.
4) Ignoring the relatives of Killian speaking out.
5) Only comparing signatures that were the same instead of examining the different ones from the enlistment packet vs. the CBS docs.
6) Ignoring all the other experts who say the documents were forged.
Piss-poor report.
FREEP CBS NEWS LIKE NEVER BEFORE!
Juan: "What's this about?T hese typewriters have been around since 1931."
Fred Barnes: "The typeface."
Juan: "Since 1931!"
Fred: "No the typeface has been around since 1931."
Juan: "These typewriters have been around forever."
