CBS EVENING NEWS WITH DAN RATHER to address, in detail, the issues surrounding the authenticity of the documents broadcast in the 60 MINUTES report on President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard... Developing...
Who has the original documents (not a copy). They say these memos came from Jerry Killian's private records. So they should have the original documents, why are they only showing us several generations old copies? Why copies, why don't they use the original documents from Killian's private records?
I think this is it:

This will air out east hours before we in the west get to see it. Please all in the eastern and central time zones, take good notes.
Folks, we have to remember who Dan Rather is. he's a partisan left wing democrat, and a flake to boot. Everything he does is going to be akin to giving Kerry or Harkins air time to explain this. You simply are going to hear the rationalizations of a completely partisan idiot. I GUARANTEE he will say "whether or not the memos ultimately prove to be authentic ...."
What a cheap way to try to get viewers. Need to make a list of sponsers but I'll bet he doesn't say a word until the very last moment.
Hilarious!!
I, for one, have always felt the Abu Ghraib prison photos smelled like some kind of a set up (guess my tin foil hat is showing).
But why would people "pose" like that for pictures that they had to know would "get around?"
GET ME ADVERTISER NAMES!!! I WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAMMER THE REST OF dnCBS's REMAINING REVENUE SOURCES!!!
IF THIS ONE CAN BE KNOCKED OUT OF THE PARK, dnCBS will be selling off real estate by year end!!!
he could say the documents are in Sandy Berger's pants and he sent them to the cleaners.
I've never watched this show in my life. I don't know if I can stomach it tonight. I really don't believe he will admit they are fakes. I think he will focus on one problem with the documents and ignore everything else.
Perhaps they should have Killian's fingerprints all over them??? I guarantee the explanation is the original fingerprints were smeared by Carville and Begala fighting over the documents.
Don't bet the farm on kerning, as many here did on proportional type. The IBM Executive model may have had a crude, manual kerning ability. The only way to settle that question is either with an Executive typewriter or its spec sheet.
Maybe CBS is letting Dan dig the hole for himself.
How paradoxical. But the conclusion is the same. The system has to dump Rather today, just like it dumped Nixon then. If Rather doesn't recognized that he is finished, and therefore resigned, the folks with the power to fire him have to do so. Congress had the power to fire Nixon. CBS and Viacom have the power to fire Rather.
And if CBS/Viacom fail to act, we the people can fire them, just as we the people could have fired Congress if they hadn't acted against Nixon. It's all very straight-forward.

I don't think Rather should be let off the hook without revealing who gave CBS the documents, what the source said in support of authenticity, and who the "experts" are that supported their authenticity.
Who ever heard of an ANONYMOUS GUARANTEE that something is authentic? What buyer or judge would accept such nonsense? If someone is an expert in his field, then he needs to be willing to put his reputation on the line when he makes such judgments.
Not to mention that Killian's widow, son, and daughter say the files didn't come from them. So how could these be personal files then?
The docs are Times New Roman, a copyrighted font first published in 1988.
Sure. Thirty Rock I believe they ostentatiously call their address.
