With my most sincere apologies, but I couldn't resist, "The platten thickens."

That's why I'm suspicious that this was a deliberate plant meant to be discovered. I just can't figure out who and why. It's just too clumsy.

Or lots of stupidity going around. What is interesting are comments that many at at least the DNC were sceptical of the document's authenticity. I can't see an upside for any DEM candidate to diminishing CBS's credibility.

What the media can do at this point is bury the story, as the "crowd booed" story has been buried.

Yes, and I suppose the guy who went into retirement the year before came back out long enough to make the memo work????

"Share your concern - they're helping to create a strawman that can be knocked down."

Yup.

My real question, though, is this: This is such a clumsy forgery that it was sure to be discovered. Why was it done so clumsily? And for what reason?

I mean the signs of forgery were so obvious that it was spotted before the show was even over. If it hadn't have been Buckhead, I'd have spotted it too.

Now, I can understand a bunch of 20-somethings not spotting it, and that's who works in newsrooms. I can understand Rather not spotting it because he's so old he can't find his weenie when it's time to pee.

But....whoever made these memos up was smarter than that. On one line, they deliberately put a space between the number and the "th" so it wouldn't superscript in Word. On another, the let the superscript happen. They'd have seen that. They'd have known that, because they did something to avoid it earlier in the document.

Now, if I were going to make fake memos from 1972, I'd find some paper, an old office typewriter (not an electric) and type the damn thing out.

This is too obvious, and I'm worried. Why was an obvious forged document send to CBS, and by whom? I'm worried.

With Soros billions, combined with the willingness "to do anything to defeat Bush," one could buy almost anything.

The problem is: did Killian have and use such a typewriter????

why can't I get my husband to put the socks in the hamper instead of next to it?

The hamper is in the wrong spot? Plus, socks have been known to escape from my dryer, what makes you think they can't get out of a simple hamper? :)

Isn't this bad, though? The prison photos became a major story in the MSM.... this concerns me because See BS can point to this guy as a real "investigative journalist"..

I purchased the book -- wanted a copy before Brinkley revised to correct errors.

Brinkley would not like my critique of his writing style. I also wanted to look at the footnotes and research materials that Brinkley used.

The book glosses over the impact of the congressional testimony on the POW's and the Dick Cavett debate.

I am wondering what BOR will have to say about the Stolen Honor video. BOR stated that he has not watched the Dick Cavett debate between O'Neill and Kerry, so I am assuming that he has paid absolutely no attention to the Congressional Testimony. It was glaring that he did not discuss that with O'Neill.

Last night, I read here on FR, that O'Reilly once again stated that the Swift boat Vets are liars, and spewing garbage. Also, that Kerry wouldn't cut and run from Iraq. I don't understand what BOR doesn't comprehend about what Kerry has said. Kerry's backers even can't figure out his nuance!

The point is that the IBM Executive proportional font had three different space widths.

"-flight physical (medical) was ordered no later than 5/14 but his birthday was in July is that correct procedure?-"

Physical would be required no later than 31July (last day of birth month).

Not only was the physical not due for at least two months at the time of the memo, but there was a specific window for the new physical to carry an aviator for another year. A physical in early May would have been to early to carry Bush until July 73'. He still would have dropped dead at the end of July 72'.

I wonder if Kerry will try to have Bush killed??? If they would forge documents they how far would they go??

He might, but it still wouldn't get him elected. It's not like he would win by default.
It might unify the Democrat base around him though.

No sir, I am not a Saint's fan. I live up here in the Great NorthWET near Sodom on the Sound. I live over in Bremerton, WA, but work downtown here in Seattle. I mainly root for the Packers (my wife is originally from Wisconsin). I used to root for the Jets (when Joe played there), Raiders (when Snake Stabler played there), Jets again (when Richard Todd played QB for them). Rooted for the Pack back in Bart Starr's days. As you can tell, I hail from Alabama originally, thus hang with those Bama QB's, who won the first three super bowls and 4 overall. I watch the SeaHawks up here. I like the Broncos also. Guess I will be a Broncs fan soon as when my wife retires, we are moving out of this socialist hell hole and moving to Wyoming. Denver is the nearest of anything pro from there.

The Air Force Regulations today order that it be in your birth month---but they will allow flight physicals in the month preceeding your birth month.

I have no idea what the Regulations were in the early 1970's, but I would bet they are the same.

"It would look so much like the memos in this fraud that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It would take me hours to do it, but I could.
I'm sorry, I don't believe that."

I don't care if you believe it or not. I used to typeset a magazine with one of those IBM Executives. You have no idea what they can do.

That's not even the point. REad the whole message.
