Edwards wants Bush to address Guard memos

By KEVIN LANDRIGAN, Telegraph Staff landrigank@telegraph-nh.com

Published: Friday, Sep. 10, 2004

NASHUA - President Bush should have to explain newly released records that reveal his former Texas National Guard superior was asked to “sugar coat” performance records after finding Bush failed standards to be a trained pilot, Sen. John Edwards said Thursday.

“I think they are reasonable and legitimate questions the White House ought to answer,” Edwards said during an interview with The Telegraph.

CBS News released 1972 and 1973 memos Wednesday from Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, who had commanded the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron where Bush served.

In one, Killian wrote that higher-ups wanted him to “sugar coat” Bush’s record after he got suspended from flying for failing performance standards and missing a required physical.

Killian died in 1984.

Sure thing John. What's the address? Po Box 34567?? That is where the memos to be returned. I assume it is a supporter of yours.

CBS still insists the memos are authentic!
It's a battle to the death!

From NRO's The Corner:

NO CBS INVESTIGATION [Byron York]
There is a new statement from CBS News, contained in a story on its website.

The relevant portion of the story is as follows:

"This report was not based solely on recovered documents, but rather on a preponderance of evidence, including documents that were provided by unimpeachable sources, interviews with former Texas National Guard officials and individuals who worked closely back in the early 1970s with Colonel Jerry Killian and were well acquainted with his procedures, his character and his thinking," the statement read.

"In addition, the documents are backed up not only by independent handwriting and forensic document experts but by sources familiar with their content," the statement continued. "Contrary to some rumors, no internal investigation is underway at CBS News nor is one planned."

I told my husband last night- a lot of people are going to have to eat a lot of words.

One thing this does is curb these kinds of attacks based on the MSM. After this I'd sure be hesitant to quote CBS or use it as a source or use its source as a source.

Because of this the SKerry campaign may be less able to use the hammers that the MSM continually hands them to bash Bush.

documents that were provided by unimpeachable sources

OK, this means that the document did not come from the President, Vice-President, or a civil officer of the United States, as the Constitution provides for their impeachment.

The Loch Ness monster is a good guy, dont worry,

Oh sure, you say that now, but where was your Mr. Sweet Thang when these phony documents were being created?

I agree with you about the dems strategy. I think they had this information before their convention and that is why Kerry thought he could center it on his Vietnam career. To me, that is the only thing that makes sense on why he would do such a stupid thing as that.

The question isn't when the docs, but when the Kerry campaign CREATED these docs. I think this is a response to the SBVT (which they knew about since at least May of this year.

Edwards is just an opportunistic man who hitched his wagon to a falling star and will hang on until the end.

His fawning over John Kerry has amounted to nothing less than blind faith in an "emperor with no clothes."

Clearly, Edwards is not as smart as he was reported to be, or he would have done his research on Kerry a little more carefully.

If voters understand the degree to which John Kerry is beholden to the ACLU, the Communist Party of the U. S., and all the other various and assorted Radical Left Wing groups who are providing his support, they will turn from him in huge numbers, come November.

The big job is to get the word out!

HEY, don't you be putting down BatBoy! If the Weekly World News wasn't talking directly to Batboy...we'd all be in a worse state of mind!

But on a another topic...do you really think GW might discuss the secret UFO base out at Vegas?

Great point! It also looks like they don't have a PLAN B.

Still on PLAN A - raise President Bush service records doubts before Kerry addresses the National Guard next week.

All they have is, tsk, tsk, blame Karl Rove.

Now that's entertainment!

Edwards wants Bush to address the memos

I can see why. The DNC's forger was stupid enough to address them "PO Box 34567".

Remember, Edwards is a trial lawyer. Since WHEN did the truth ever matter to a lawyer. (P.S. I work with lawyers, I have first hand experience!)
