Edwards wants Bush to address Guard memos

NASHUA - President Bush should have to explain newly released records that reveal his former Texas National Guard superior was asked to “sugar coat” performance records after finding Bush failed standards to be a trained pilot, Sen. John Edwards said Thursday.
“I think they are reasonable and legitimate questions the White House ought to answer,” Edwards said during an interview with The Telegraph.
CBS News released 1972 and 1973 memos Wednesday from Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, who had commanded the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron where Bush served.
In one, Killian wrote that higher-ups wanted him to “sugar coat” Bush’s record after he got suspended from flying for failing performance standards and missing a required physical.
Killian died in 1984.

I know Edwards is probably busy on the campaign trail, and may not have had time to look at ANY of the news sources which are reporting these documents as fakes, but don't you think one of his advisors should have mentioned it to him.
Do think Carville and the Clintonistas advised Edwards to make this statement to Bush?

Is that true? If so - AWSOME!! I'm SO looking forward to the day after the election, when Kerry marches back to his mansion in shame. And all the angry/hateful "peaceful" people (you know, the ones beating up the cop in NY at the convention) start chewing their livers in outrage. Oh my, that's going to be great. I'm chuckling a little right now just thinking about it.

Good for him. The deeper they pull the campaign into the issue, the worse the backlash if they can't prove they're legit.
Like it or not, the burden of proof seems to have shifted to CBS and the Kerry campaign. Other than bluster and bravado, I'm bettin' they don't have anything else to back them.
I agree with you about the dems strategy. I think they had this information before their convention and that is why Kerry thought he could center it on his Vietnam career. To me, that is the only thing that makes sense on why he would do such a stupid thing as that.
Maybe the "Ambulance Chaser" could tell us who forged the documents...hmmmmmmm
