The White House got the memos from CBS, who faxed them to the White House the day before the story.
IMHO I think I know who the "website" is that NBC was afraid to get caught by!
And that makes my day! Way to go!
right at this very moment....CBS and Rather are not reporting this on the nightly news. Not a word about forgery. Hmmmmmmm?
Brit Hume and gang will be talking about CBS Docs after break...Now!
Hume is bringing it up next with the panel. OOOOOOPS.
This Blog has a jpg of the match up with word. Kerry and the dems are going down.

CBS faxed them to the White House in advance of the report. The White House released copies of the CBS-supplied fax.
Is there something about these files that tells you this? I get pdf files all the time with graphics and such - the graphics don't change, but I can edit the text. When the scanned doc is in some typeface that I don't have in Adobe, it swaps to my defaults.
No mention of forged documents!!!!!!
CBS sent them to the WH, and the WH gave them to anyone who asked. if you look at what the WH is said to have released, they have CBS News' name and FAX number on them.
I bought a state-of-the-art IBM Selectric in 1975, equipped with the 'works', and it didn't have the superscript 'th' as shown in the documents Dan Rather/CBS presented last night! I am almost sure this is a big, big fake!
"Experts" are a dime a dozen.
I used to work with this insurance guy, Tony, who taught me how the pros forge signatures. The secret is to turn the signature which you are duplicating upside down. That way when you forge the signature you are only duplicating what looks like a scribble instead of a group of letters. This negates any predisposition you have in the way that you normally write those letters. With a little practice, this method works amazingly well.
Tony was clearly an "expert". Maybe CBS asked Tony.
Brokaw and Jennings both brought up the possibility of forged documents, Rather punted.
I had started to post earlier that, having once been a secretary for the US Navy (GS), I was concerned about the lack of the SSIC, and the typists initials, as well as the Subject not being capitalized on this memo. However, since I was unsure about Army regulations regarding correspondence, I did not post...glad to see someone knowledgeable about Army correspondence picked it up.
I thought I heard on the news last night that the WH also released some of these documents. What's the story on that?
Dan
Just watched CBS .. nothing.. Brit's panel has it now
Classic
Change your tag line.
That was amazing, wasn't it?
They have NO clue, do they?
But did you notice that Roberts said it sullies Bush's honor and truthfulness?
That is the REASON they did this.
Nope, not a word about the biggest story of the day.
