I thought I heard on the news last night that the WH also released some of these documents. What's the story on that?

They came from CBS, who faxed them to the White House before they story broke. The White House is clean on this one. (At least on the surface :))
As posted elesewhere - CBS faxed the docs to the Whitehouse 24 hours ahead of 60 Minutes - in turn the WH released copies to all news media that requested them
