Aside from slight warping presumably due to distortion introduced by a low-quality photocopier, the two texts line up exactly. The "30+ year old proof" against Bush is a fraud.
Makes me wonder if one of us Freepers made these "memos" up and sent them in to CBS, knowing they would later be discredited. CBS is SO desperate to discredit Bush, they'll show ANYTHING without checking the facts first. If so, you probably just won the election for Bush.

My main point which will solve it is that these machines are available today.
These companies maintain and keep them for their own company museums, they are available going back to practically the very early 1900s.
This will be found out, NO DOUBT!

I think there's plenty to question about the memos, but doing amateur forensics is unfruitful and makes us look quite silly.
The self-congratulations about superimposing the fonts from two pictures are baseless, as you have agreed, because they are different fonts.
Why don't we talk about Bush's lead of 52% that ABC reported tonight? Let this nonsense blow over. Don't let up on the attacks against Kerry. The Dems probably did this to do one thing: divert us from continued slamming of Kerry and his record.
To dwell on these memos plays into the hands of the Dems. And I shudder to think that some of them are here hoping that we make even bigger fools of ourselves.
Even if the memos WERE authentic, the content is meaningless and undamaging. If he was trying to get into another situation, of course he's going to not get credentialed to fly. I cannot navigate easily enough on this site to find that post I read yesterday that made all this seem so very unimportant, but the poster said that it was STANDARD procedure to not take your physical when you were not going to continue flying.

The warping could also be caused by the page not being pressed firmly to the glass when it's copied. Making repeated copies would multiply the effect, so that even a slight unflatness in the paper would cause visible warping.
I mentioned that about the TH also, but that is simple solved by pasting it in after the fact.
The document was copied to hell and back several times and would cover up the paste if that was what happened.
All old typewriters are in existence, they are maintained in various museums and in particular the museums of the companies that built them, so this will be all proven one way or the other for sure.
I lean to fraud myself.
I could duplicate the exact page with an older program I used called Designer 4.0 which is a computer graphics program for setting up press stuff or business materials.

Unfruitful? I don't think so. It's what we do at Free Republic, namely, rapid response and dissemination to the media. If people like us did not put this kind of attention on developments like this, people like Dan Rather would have a much easier time pulling off these deceptions. IMO, what we do is quite productive.
Ahhhh, but if you skip a space between the number and the "th" --- Microsoft Word will not pick it up and automatically superscript it.
Is there any way you can gradually slow the 'heartbeat' of the document to simulate the death of the Kerry campaign? (ggg!)

Right. And the superscript isn't on that first line where there appears to be a larger space.
