Russian Muslims Rally Against Terror

By Damir Ahmad, IOL Correspondent

MOSCOW, September 8 (IslamOnline.net) – Up to 40,000 Russian Muslims took part Tuesday, September 7, in a nationwide rally in protest at the hostage-taking school tragedy in the southern city of Beslan that claimed the lives of hundreds of people, mostly children.

In Moscow, the anguished protesters stood still for a moment of silence on the Red Square in memory of the victims of Beslan and the two Russian airliners that crashed south of Moscow on August 25, killing 90 people aboard.

The demonstrators, who reached 15,000 people, waved banners reading: “Terror-free Russia”, “Real human beings do not target children”, “Keep your hands off our children” and “All Russians make it clear: We are against terrorism”.

The mass rally was called for by the Russian television Monday, September 6 and was organized by a pro-government trade union.

It came as the residents of grief-stricken Beslan held a third day of funerals for at last the 336 victims.

All but one of the 32 hostage-takers and at least 336 people, half of them children, died after Russian troops stormed the school Friday, September 3.

The Russian government has admitted that it lied to its people about the scale of the crisis.

‘Not Muslims’

The deputy chief of Russia’s Council of Muftis, Izzatullah Damir Hezrat, said the perpetrators of the “terrorist hostage-takers have nothing to do with Islam”.

“They are not Muslims at all, rather they are criminals,” Hezrat told the crowd massing at the Red Square.

“Those who killed innocent people, not to mention children, are doomed to the Hellfire. They wanted to spark a religious strife in the Caucasus. But their malicious schemes would prove futile as the entire Russian people stand united against terrorism.”

He said hundreds of Muslims representing their community in Russia performed funeral prayers Tuesday in solidarity with the victims’ families and leave the impression that they do feel for them.

“We will be missing you and always remember you in our prayers,” Hezrat added.

The Council of Muftis has already condemned the tragedy as “a terrorist act that Islam totally refuses and forbids”.

The religious council for North Caucasian Muslims said the hostage taking is “a heinous terrorist crime” that inflicted pain and suffering on families of the hostages.

the Russians will stomp them like cockroaches

they've been doing that for a very loooong time now, with a notable lack of success.

Something I not seen here is this massacre means that Chechnya won't get their independence now for (at least) 50 years. And so the slaughter will go on.

Thanks!!!
There have been many times on threads that I have seen people looking for the Muslims to condemn acts of terrorism. I will bookmark these and post them again if you don't mind.

“Terrorist hostage-takers”

“Criminals, doomed to the Hellfire”.

“A terrorist act”

“A heinous terrorist crime”.

What’ missing here? Where’s the “insurgents”, “freedom fighters”, “rebels”. Oh I see, this was not filtered through the western media.

These muslim rats know that Putin will seal off the borders and, due to the increased anger on the part of the citizenry, may just raze every mosque within 1,000 kms of the scene of the brutal butchery!

What will it take for our government to seal off our borders, quarantine all muslims until a country can be found to accept them, and begin razing the hundreds upon hundreds of mosques that soil our landscape?

One of the attributes of a moderate, is that they do not participate in activism....marches are activism.

Overturning the U.S. Constitution.

If there was a legal way for Roosevelt to round up innocent Japanese-Americans and shove them into internment camps after Pearl Harbor, there must be a way to clear out the evil moslems and their mosques.

Violate the First Amendment for one, you violate it for all.

The Japanese-Americans were rounded up due to their nationality, and we paid reparations to them. Thus far, all Muslim extremists have been foreign nationals.

After terrorist muslims are captured they are warehoused, fed, clothed and given attorneys in order that their trials can drag through our courts system for eons.

Something decisive has to be done to these killers. They must be cleared from America and quickly.

Their "religion" puts them at war with non-muslims until we are either killed or converted to their peaceful religion.

So, again, you would destroy the U.S. Constitution in order to punish the terrorists?

Here's what's wrong withn your argument in a nutshell:

Destroying our Constitution, our way of life, is the goal of the terrorists. You are actually advocating victory for the terrorists.

When Japan was conquering countries in WW11, literally every one of them were able to set up Japanese Government because 25 to 50% of the Japanese in those countries were stealthily with the invasions.

Yes, we rounded up some innocents and actually we put as many non-Japanese in camps as we did Japanese.

Luis, this is a war that is more sinister and dangerous to our lives than WWII! Many freedoms are suspended during wartime--for our enemies and, indeed, some of the rest of us. The alternative is being beheaded, blown up, burned alive, watching these despicable killers murder our children before our very eyes etc. etc.

You speak of destroying our way of life being a goal of the terrorists. I say that their goal is the destruction of all Americans.
